the sm bus controller should be with the Intel Chipset Driver.

Did you recently format and reinstall your computer? With Compaq computers (and HP/Dell etc) it is important that you installed the same operating system that originally came with the computer. If you Reinstalled your Operating System with the Recovery Disks that can be created from PC Help and Tools in the Program Files from the Start Menu, or reinstalled from the Recovery Partition from the Hard Drive, all the drivers and controllers should have automatically installed themselves from the Recovery Disks/Recovery Partition.

You can find the driver download page for your notebook by following the link below. Locate the correct model by using the sticker located on the bottom of your laptop. Download and install the audio driver for your computer. Restart and this should take care of the issue so long as you do not have a hardware volume control knob or the computer muted.

First, Right click my computer, click manage, then go to device manager from the opened window. Then, right click on your 5 specified components, and click update driver. this should automatically try to update them online.
Failing that.... the following is the long winded way of doing things!
This site should do the trick. look at the exact model number on the bottom of the laptop, it should say;
HP Compaq Presario V20zzxx
[where zz is 2 numbers for the exact model number] [where xx is 2 letters in lower case]
(you'll see what i mean when you click the link) select the relevant link from here and click to download

SOLUTION!!!

**Even though your computer may SAY that it is a Presario V2000, it may have an entirely different product number for downloading drivers specific to your particular configuration.**

1) Look at the serial code on the back/bottom of your computer: there is a number starting with p/n (ex. p/nEX664UA#APL) This code identifies your computer beyond the V2000 label.

2) Go to the compaq/hp website: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/welcome.html#Support

3) select "Download Drivers and software(and firmware)"

4) THEN, enter your P/N Instead of "Presario V2000" into the product name/number box, and hit enter.

Select your operating system, and you will be redirected to a page listing all the necessary drivers for your model.

On the left of your screen, you will see a box that says "your product" with a picture of a laptop, and a model number beneath it. THIS IS YOUR ACTUAL MODEL NUMBER (Mine was Compaq Presario V2610CA Notebook PC).

5) Download and install the drivers you need, and gappy geeking!!!
