I am just getting into computer networking and I'm trying to use the telenet client in vista. I've added the program in add/remove windows components, however telenet is still not recognized in the command prompt.

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2009

I am the administrator on both of my pc's and UAC is disabled.

  • Anonymous Feb 01, 2009

I am afraid that I do not understand. I can open task manager as many times as I like and select "Show processes from all users" but I cannot turn a window feature on more than once without first disabling it. Did you want me to disable and re-enable telnet?

Also, just because I'm curious, how does checking the "Show processes from all users" box grant me administrative rights?

Make sure you are logged into an account on Vista that has administrator rights.

  • Anonymous Jan 31, 2009

You can "be" the administrator, but still not have administrator rights. Open your Task Manager and check the box that says "show processes from all users." Then try to add the telenet again. If the issue was an account w/o admin rights that should take care of it.

"Also, just because I'm curious, how does checking the "Show processes from all users" box grant me administrative rights?"

You'll have to pose that query to Micro$oft, they're the idiots that set Vista up that way.

How do i uninstall knctr

Quickly and completely remove Knctr from your computer by downloading "Should I Remove It?", its 100% FREE
http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/download.aspx
This will remove Knctr from your computer.

Or, you can uninstall Knctr from your computer by using the Add/Remove Program feature in the Window's Control Panel.

  1. On the Start menu (for Windows 8, right-click the screen's bottom-left corner), click Control Panel, and then, underPrograms, do one of the following:
    • Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall a Program.
    • Windows XP: Click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. When you find the program Knctr, click it, and then do one of the following:
    • Windows Vista/7/8: Click Uninstall.
    • Windows XP: Click the Remove or Change/Remove tab (to the right of the program).
  3. Follow the prompts. A progress bar shows you how long it will take to remove Knctr.
  4. If for some reason uninstallation fails, please install Microsoft's uninstall fixer utility which will help fix problems with programs that can't be uninstalled at support.microsoft.com.

Hopefully it works and solve your problem. Please rate, thank you. Sharing is caring. :)

Unable to load client protocol

b> Internet Protocol, also known as IP, is a communication protocol which heavily uses the TCP/IP standards for packet switch internetworking. IP manages addressing methods for data encapsulation and delivery. IP was developed by the United States Department of Defense and is now widely used by the public. IP Version 4 is the fourth version of Internet Protocol and the first one to be deployed to the public. Updating and installing Internet Protocols are important to the integrity and reliability of your Internet connections.

Click the "Start" button at the bottom of your desktop screen. Click on "All Programs." Select "Run" from the Accessories folder. Type "CMD" in the run dialog box. The command prompt window will appear. Type "Netsh Interface ipv4 install" on the command prompt line. Press "Enter." Restart your computer.

Ghostery turned off wireless signal

Hi There,
It's certainly purely coincidence that your network cut out after installing ghostery. The program has literally nothing to do with your network connection, it's simply a browser add-on.
The problem more than likely lies within your computer OS, either you've hit the wireless switch on your laptop (turn it back on) or (Fn+F8) or you've mangled your internet connection settings in your firefox options.
If all else fails, try removing the power plug from your router for 30 seconds, plug it back in and allow it to boot fully.

Three users of Outlook 2007 shut down their computer and the next time they turn them on, they get the error message "A data file did not close properly" in Outlook and Outlook check's its...

Hello,

Are you using any trend micro anti virus? If so, try the following

1. Open your Outlook 2007
2. Click on Tools.
3. Click on Trust center.
4. The Trust center window will pop-up and click on Add-ins on the right part of the screen.
5. Under Manage: COM Add-ins
6. Click on Go.. (Middle bottom part of screen)
7. Uncheck all the Add-ins Exept for TMAS (TMAS is Trend Micro) then Click on OK.
7. Restart your computer.

Or if using a anti virus program and you see that in the "add in" options just substitute.

The following link has some problems and solutions for that event ID you gave.

I can not figure out how to get the computer to make a wireless connection.

Add the Home SSID to the Preferred Network List After you set the SSID on your home gateway, you may need to add it to your preferred network list if Windows XP Wireless Auto Configuration is enabled. (Although automatic configuration is nice to have, your IT department may have disabled it on your laptop in order to meet their needs. If they have, you'll need to use the tool provided by your laptop or wireless manufacturer to manually configure wireless settings.) To manually add your home wireless network to the list of preferred networks when Wireless Auto Configuration is enabled, follow these steps:
• In Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
• Right-click the Wireless Network Connection, and then click Properties.
• On the Wireless Networks tab, shown in Figure 3, click Add.

Figure 3
• In the Wireless network properties dialog box, shown in Figure 4, enter the SSID you configured for your wireless gateway (ExampleHome_g in this example.)

Figure 4
Note: Figure 4 assumes you've added the Windows WPA Client Update. If you haven't downloaded and installed it, you probably should. For more on the WPA Client Update, see Overview of the WPA Wireless Security Update in Window XP.
• Fill in the rest of the fields, including the necessary authentication and encryption information based on the configuration of your wireless gateway.
• Click OK and your home network will be added to the list of preferred networks.
Now, whenever you're at home, your work laptop should automatically see your home wireless network and connect to it.

Method 1
Restart the computer and keep pressing F8 until you get the OS Choices menu, select "Safe Mode". after that click on Administrator then it will
go to the desktop if the Administrator account is enabled or it will not work and there are no known programs that can bypass userinit.exe in vista.

Use two computers with one printer

Printer Sharing (This is good for Windows 2000, XP and Vista)
Sharing will be very easy if your network is working.
You need to consider the computer where the printer connected as the "Host" and the other computer that wants to print to that printer as the "Client".
Before you do such sharing, you need to acquire each computer's IP address.
You can do it by accessing MSDOS Prompt and typing in ipconfig/all. Write down your IP addresses and the share name on a paper.
For your Host:
Install the driver, make sure that you can print on direct bi-directional connection (such as USB).
Go to Control Panel >Printers and Faxes* >Sharing >Share this printer >Type in your share name, good example is PRINTER (this is case sensitive).
For your Client:
Install the driver, make sure that you can print, same with the Host.
Go to Control Panel >Printers and Faxes* >Properties >Ports >Add Port >Add local port type in \\ (the IP Addressof the Host) \ (share name), click OK.
ex. \\192.168.1.3\PRINTER (watch your backslash, no spaces)
*Term used is "Printers" for Windows Vista and Windows 2000

3) Select "Canon BJNP Port".
4) Select "New Port".
5) Fill in the IP Address of your printer and select "Next".

Make sure that the Port is checked back in the properties page and select "Apply" and your done. Do a test print and your printer should work on your network. You may still need to fix the settings on your firewall or router to allow access if it does not print.
