I think my hard drive crashed. The computer screen turned blue and said restart if you haven't seen this screen before. I restarted and the screen was black. I had two options on screen, one set up utility or reboot. Neither one helped. Could not reboot. I ran IDE diagnostics and results said: Drive 0 WDC WD1200JB - fail return code 7. Don't know what that is. I have pics of my brother who passed away on my computer and that is why I am so desperate to try to retrieve them. I just purchased an external hard drive and didn't back them up in time. Just please be honest and tell me am I wasting my time. I don't want to get my hopes up. I have been told I could have them retrieved and others have told me if the hard drive crashed not to waste my time.
I have three "crashed" hard drives in my own. I pulled them out and they were dead (as computer guy said after check them) but i still using them as an external drives. Just buy the adapter
3.5' IDE to USB for instance here or here
These links just to give you the idea what to look for. You can find even cheaper (around $12) with free shipping. These adapters are coming with complete instructions how to connect the hard drive.
This is a safest way. And in most cases it works.
Please kindly contact me if you need more info or if this solution is not appropriate for you. I am here and always ready to help
Good Luck
Dear
You can still recover your data. Just follow these instructions:
Connect that harddisk to another computer with Windows XP. Check if harddisk is detected on that computer. If yes then check that partitions are showing if yes then simply copy your data.
If partitions are not shown that you have to download software named Get Data Back / RxStudio
And run either of these software to recover your data.
Hope this will help you. May God help you.
