Samsung HL-R4667W black screen, display says "Lamp"

Look to see if thee timer is engaged. Check the cooling fan for the lamp too.

According to an aftermarket lamp manufacturer, there are 2 different lamps (1st and 2nd generations) available for the Samsung HL-R4667W, but only one of them will actually fit. The lamp that is commonly associated with this model, BP96-00826A, is used in housing that has a silver bump protruding from the opposite side as the front face of the bulb itself. The other type, BP96-01073A, is placed in a housing that has a smooth back face and a overall larger bulb. I can verify that the HL-R4667W that I own seems to have the second type of lamp.

As long as you didn't open the housing of the lamp that you purchased to try to install the lamp in the housing that your TV came with, you might still be able to request an exchange from samsungparts.com, given the circumstances.

Theres a cover on the back that is vented w/4 screws on like the corners,also theres a symbol that looks like a "T" on it,take that cover off and right behind the symbol "T" an arm like plastic piece is what hits a lever inside when then cover is installed ,flip that little blue lever up and down a couple of times with the set unplugged reinstall cover making sure the "T" is in the position to hit the lever and tighten not too tight.
if this don't work it may be your colorwheel.Good Luck!

Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board.This is how it works: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/dlp1.htm Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors.When it starts to fail it will create black bars,pixelation,color distortion or white dots on screens. remove your Lamp and look in middle of it,that will tell you if it is busted.

If the Lamp ignites and stays lit, but screen is completely black, not even the on screen display, then it is likely a bad DMD board.

If the lamp ignites and then turns off after a couple seconds then it is likely the color wheel is seized.

If the lamp never fires, but the TV clicks a bunch of times, then it could be a bad Ballast or the Lamp itself.

How much was it moved? It could have jiggled something loose or made an intermittent connection, try removing the bulb/lamp and put it back in to reseat it, it might be detecting a lamp issue due to a bad connection, or a lamp thats starting to fail, if you have a spare lamp you can try replacing it. If thats not it then it may just be something is failing due to age/heat in the tv and moving it caused enough shock to the part to go intermittent. Most commonly when a projection tv does this its a problem with the lamp, or the power supply board.

It sounds like your lamp is going bad. The lamp part number is listed as "lamp code" on a sticker located on the left side of the set. Use this number to grab a replacement off ebay.
