Check the following to address this issue.

1. No water
Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

5. Not enough soap
If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

6. Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner.

Dishes on top shelf not getting clean

Check your upper wash arm.... check the holes, especially the ones at the end of the arm. Are they possibly clogged with debris or hard water? This is the usual cause of dishes on the top rack not getting clean. The holes at the end of the wash arm are angled to eject the water at an angle to use the reaction to push the wash arm around. If those holes are clogged, then the arm won't rotate, and only those few dishes or glasses right under the arm will get clean, and the remaining 80% of the dishes on the upper rack won't get clean!

I have a KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDT03FTSS0. I am having a problem with the glasses on the top rack not being fully cleaned. There seems to be an amount of residue left on the glasses. I have...

Check that the arms spin freely when spun by hand, then check the outlet jets at the trailing end of the arms are not blocked with food particles and other solid matter. This often happens and the arm is unable to turn because the water jet that is supposed to drive the arm does not have the force to rotate it with the result is that the upper dishes do not get enough water and chemicals. It may also cause water to continue dripping onto dried dishes after the the drying cycle has stopped.

Dishes are not cleaned on the top level, the bottom level is OK, seem like the spray arm is not revolving

top spray arm will be blocked with sediment/food deposits etc remove clean thoroughly with hot soap water and shake/tap it on side of sink to dislodge deposits if the outermost holes are blocked the arm will not turn and you will get poor wash results.

Dishes do not come out clean. It runs thru the whole cycle and dishes are hot and steamy but not clean. It seems like there must not be water coming out of the jets to scrub? How do I fix/ what do I...

My first guess is to check the spray arms are not blocked from spinning by a large plate or utensil and /or the spray arm orfices are clogged. Removal of the spray arm should be fairly simple and run water through the center of the arm and see if it comes out the jets.

There is always detergent left in the compartment and my dishes don't seem clean. It doesn't seem to matter if I use powder or gel detergent and I don't overfill it.

I expect your filter is clogged which does not allow sufficient water to get from the pump to your spray arms. Thus they do not clean out the detergent nor do they clean the dishes. You might test this by placing a glass right side up in the top rack and run a normal wash cycle. The glass should fill at least half way with water.

Dishes on top shelf, usually cups and glasses, not washing correctly. Have tried rinsing cl eanser to no avail

Hi,

Probably a blocked spray arm. Remove the top spray arm and check and clean all the holes as this is where the water sprays out from to clean the dishes and glasses. When they are blocked you get poor wash results. Might also be worth checking the other 2 spray arms at the same time.

Dishes on top won't clean, seems to stem from arm below

Sounds like the water pump is not pumping the water. Or the most likely problem is that your arm is plugged with hard water or something. Take it out and clean it and check there first. Or something in the arm has broken and it no longer spins because it is not pressurizing correctly. Some acids will help disolve hard water and clean up the problem. I use a commercial grade acid for cleaning ice machines to eat away the hard water. Good luck and let me know if i can help you out anymore.

Dishes not getting clean

brittgee, there has been a number of service flashes on this model. One that has to do with the upper spray arm assy. Complaint is poor washability; gritty glasses, food redeposited on glasses, especially in the corners. They redesigned the upper spray arm to improve water spray to all corners of the upper rack. The new part number is 8269022. They also redesigned the third level spinner for more consistant rotation and better washability. This was also under a service flash. Part number.8193768. Other reasons for poor wash would be; low water temperature, rinse aid disp. not working, loading etc. Catriver...post back.
