There are two types of passwords used in Quicken: a password for opening a data file (also known as 'file password') and a transaction password.
If both passwords are set, you will have to find the password for opening the file first; then you can recover the transaction password. In other words you cannot recover the transaction password if the file password is set.

It should do as you describe. I have read about multiple users but have not used this feature. I have created multiple quicken files in the past. I dont know of any reason why you couldn't have two Quicken files (Data files Im talking about) accessible to youur users.

I didnt know Quicken 99 was so very popular.

I presume you are aware this software is no longer supported by Intuit ...

If you reinstalled Quicken it should run from within the All Programs menu or any short cut that was created. Just click it and it should go - if it doesnt, Id say remove it using the add/remove utility inthe control panel and reinstall it again.

The trick will be to find and load your data file. You did make a separate back up on a stick or adifferent hard drive or CD or DVD, right?

Time for a new Quicken, my friend. and maybe a newer computer. I remember something about Quicking having trouble migrating to 32 bit computers.

Find a newer quicken on e-bay or at your computer store that also handles used software. Quicken sells the new version now at their site for $78.00

Make sure you have a good back up before youj start.

In the C drive Navigate to View menu and choose option "Details"
Now you can see the Created Date for specified files so that you can check which files are older / newer
