Try immersing the tube in super hot water. The plastic might expand just enough to let you slip out the blade. Since the tube is dishwasher safe, there should be no harm. A little soap in the water might help it slip out.

The stem in the DLC-8E Cuisinart food processor does it just pull straight up off the motor shaft?

Yes it does. It is a snug fit on the blade shaft, if you mean the tall shaft that powers the shredder discs? The short one that holds the cutting blade is not removable.

The tall stem is shown here

Cuisinart smartpower duet BFP703 food processor repair manual

Oh some of these answers... the most common issue with blender is that the removable blade unit starts to jam. So :
1. unscrew it, clean it and make sure it turns easy
2. open the unit and replace the fuse that blew up because turning the blade became too hard.

Locked in blade

My old Cuisinart has this problem because the motor shaft and the corresponding socket on the cutter are worn. The shaft has jammed in the cutter. To un-jam it, stick a bar of wood behind one blade of the cutter (I use the wood handle of my dough whisk) and give it a light, sharp tap with a hammer. Check after every tap to see if it is loose, if not do it again. You want to tap against the back side of the cutter, not the cutting edge side. The socket on your cutter may be cracked, allowing it to open up and slip (and jam) under the stress of cutting. You'll probably need a new one. If the motor shaft is also worn, that can also be replaced. The new part is about $10. I got a few more months of life from my cutter by reinforcing the inner socket with a thin plastic tube from the barrel of a syringe.

Cuisinart DLC-7--blade stuck--cannot remove from bowl.

First off, is it a BLADE that's stuck, or a DISC?
If it's a disc, and the disc is blocking your access to the center post, put a ziploc baggie full of ice on top of the disc (right in the middle) and let it sit for about half an hour. That should shrink the plastic enough to pop it out.

If it's a blade, you can try the ice trick, or you can try Pam (or another food grade cooking spray) to loosen it up, and then just try to take the workbowl off like you usually would (aka, DO NOT grab the blade, or you'll risk cutting yourself--you can just pull up on the bowl, and the blade should pop off.

If you need further help, you can always contact Cuisinart--their phone number (according to their website, www.cuisinart.com ) is 1 800 726 0190

Good luck! :)

Food processor does not work but light is on

Put the work bowl, lid, and pusher on one piece at a time - handle of work bowl faces the front of the food processor, hollow feed tube faces the back, and the sliding lock switch on pusher sleeve faces the front. Should turn on.

If it doesn't, test the motor - remove the work bowl and other parts completely. Plug the base in and turn it on, and use a pen to push in the dark grey or black button on top of the base - if it spins, the motor is still good - you may just need a replacement part. If it doesn't make a sound, it needs to be sent in to Cuisinart for repair.

Cuisinart DL 11: Cracked plastic drive shaft

If it is in warranty, it can be sent to Cuisinart for repair. If it is out-of-warranty, it will cost more than a new food processor to repair.

Jammed Blade

Had the same problem. The Cuisinart folks said to fill it with hot tap water - not boiling - then turn it on and off. The heat from the water will unstick the bowl. If it doesn't work first time - refill with hot water and try again. Worked like a charm for me.
