Dell Latitude D430 laptop. Laptop will not power on with Dell AC adapter. I got another AC adapter for it that lights up when plugged in to a power source but when I plug it into the laptop the light goes out and it does not power on. The same AC adapter powers on a different laptop with no problem. Dell has replaced the motherboard 2 times and the whole computer once. Any ideas?

I tried hooking it up to the ac adapter without the LCD attached to the motherboard and it is still doing the same thing. I assume now it isn't the inverter because I unhooked it. Anymore ideas?

Also it does the same thing with the battery removed.

The AC adapter was working for a while but now the computer will not power on at all. It won't power on with just the battery attached or when the battery is removed and just the AC adapter is attached. The battery is charged according to the indicator on the battery.

I have tested the voltage coming out of the adapter and it is correct, 19.5V. The adapter is a universal adapter with different tips. It works with another computer with similar power needs as the Dell. I also checked the power coming out of the outlet and it was correct. Unfortunately I don't have another adapter that will fit the Dell to try that out.

    Hi shawn62279,

Have you checked the specifications of the adaptor required for the machine.

Beacuse with dell this is the common problem that output of the ac adaptor secondly does the system behaves in same way in safe mode too.

    Hi shawn62279,

So right now it is not powering on with the adaptor also means there might be some issue with the adaptor.

As the converter is onboard so there is no issue of that try with any adaptor with same specifications and please once try it any other place alos either check the earthing voltage at house it must not exceed 2 volts.

I already change the adapter but same result.

If your adapter is ok, the most possible problem is that your laptop dc power jack. So you may check it out. Either replace it or get it repaired.

How do I get my computer to recognized my new ac power adapter?

The computer doesn't need any drivers to recognize an AC Adapter. If you have purchased the correct AC Adapter for your laptop then it should just work when you plug it in. If it does not then my guess is either you have received a faulty AC Adapter or the DC Jack which you plug into in the back of the laptop is bad.
I am assuming your battery is dead and when you plug it in and turn it on nothing happens?
You can also try taking the battery out and try to power it on with the AC Adapter plugged in.

The Dell Latitude D610 takes a PA-10 or PA12 AC Adapter. It's 65W or 90W

For 90 watt Adapter the output voltage on your AC Adapter label should read 19.5V and 4.62A
At least that's what the Dell brand reads so it should be close to that.

I want to reset BIOS password for Dell Latitude D430 laptop. hash code is #9s6vfbx

To reset the BIOS read the information from this link.

In case of your Dell Latitude laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

How can I plug my laptop latitude d430 on a seperate samsung monitor using a belkin flip ps2 cable? ... is laptop is compatible with ps2? or should i need drivers for belkin or samsung monitor on the...

You need a standard analog video or DVI cable to attach the monitor.

PS2 is for your keyboard or mouse only. However, Belkin has a PS2 to usb adapter that will let you attach these devices to your laptop via USB if you need to.

Ac adapter not recognized appears on the screen...how do i fix this?

Sounds like you may need a replacement for the adapter.

Can you borrow one for the identical model?

Check and ensure that the power requirements for the laptop are matched by the output voltages on the ac adapter.

Good luck

Not charging

which green light?

light from the ac power adapter or the light from the battery?

if ac power adapter you are referring to try a diff power wall socket if ac power adapter still off then replace ac power adapter alone.

if battery light is off but the laptop works fine with ac adapter alone try updating the laptop BIOS.

if ac adapter light turns off when it plug to the laptop replace motherboard.

Laptop will not turn on

Unplug the ac adapter from the back of the computer. Make sure it's plugged to an electric outlet. check if the ac adapter light is solid green. if not. then you have to replace it.

If it is solid green, reconnect it to the computer, if the light on the adapter goes out as soon as you plug it in to the system, you need to replace the motherboard. call dell to seek your options for replacement.
