This indicates that your SD card is full and should be replaced with an empty card. If the new card has never been used before, be sure to format it. If you don't have another card, download the pictures from the full card then erase or format the card and you can then reinstall it in the camera. The numbers on the lower left side of the control panel show the number of shots remaining on the SD card.

Take the lens off and continue pressing the shutter untill it doesn't react anymore, you should then have a normal menu without the error message.Put your lens on and you're all sorted.Cheaper and less hassle than sending it to Nikon.

SOURCE: nikon d80 problem (err flashing with r09 in the lcd display)

yupz.... r 09,, it was not an error. it mean a value of the camera memory buffer . a memory buffer is temporary memory before your captured images stored to memory card.

The 'Err' error message, mean your camera is malfunction. and all you have to do is contact nikon service center

I have a Nikon D80 and one day, I suddenly couldn't take pictures. When I turn my camera on, it automatically blinks the Err message. My shutter mechanics work fine, it recognizes my lenses, and playback...

Had same problems. The shutter is faulty although my D80 only registered about 2,000 shots.

Get it fixed at Nikon Service Center. It's your only option. Cost me $120.

D80 err message . what can I do to fix without sending the cam in? I have already did the reset and nothing so far is working..

Page 132 of the D80 manual states the ERR is a camera malfunction. My suggestion is to rest the camera, see if that helps you will find those instructions on page 129 in the D80 manual. Sometimes removing the batter then pressing the shutter release numerous times will free up any static buildup. If none of that works it is off to Nikon.

I'm getting the F- - code in the screen of my Nikon D80 SLR. Also, when I press down on the button to take a picture it shows r11 where it shows the number of photos available to take.

i think the f-- code means its not recognizing your lens correctly. make sure all the contacts on lens and camera are clean. the r11 is the buffer. nothing to worry about. The number of images that can be stored in the memory buffer at current settings is shown in the exposure-count displays in the
viewfinder and control panel while the shutter-release button is pressed. This number is updated as photographs are transferred to the memory card and more memory becomes available in the buff er. If 0 is displayed, the buff er is full and shooting will slow. Shooting can continue up to a maximum of 100 shots.

you can get the d80 manual here if you dont have it

Auto focus at full zoom not responding Nikon D80 with 18-200mm VR

Hi - I own this lens and it manually focuses at all focal lengths (hard to see at 18mm unless your subject is extremly close). You may need to get the lens checked. BTW - Mine was set as follows when I checked for you:
  • D80 was "on"
  • M/A
  • VR = Off
  • Normal (not Active)
Hope this helps!

Control Panel display no information.

Do you mean the control panel on top or the big LCD on the back?

The display on top should be showing you stuff like the shutter speed and aperture as you take the picture.

The display on the back will not show you the picture while you're taking it. The D80 does not have a Live View capability.
