Most probably, flat batteries. Autostars go berserk when batteries are even a little low. Try it with a mains power adaptor instead.

Otherwise, maybe its a dodgy curly cable, broken Autostar, broken control panel or Autostar firmware needs reloaded

Ime looking for a meade LX200 users manual that comes with the scope

Most Meade manuals are available on their support site: http://www.meade.com/support/manuals/ . Scroll down through the list for the LX200 series manuals (in the Telescopes section). The LX200 manual is listed as the LX-200 Classic. The current link to this manual is http://www.meade.com/downloads/dl/file/id/10/product/0/lx200_classic_manual.pdf .

I hope this helps.

10" LX200 runaway motor, right ascension.Mead

The very first thing to try is new cables. Including the DEC cable. If this does not repair it then it has an internal circuit board issue.

Buy new cables first--

www.scopestuff.com sells them. Call them and order everything new.

Also a low power supply can also cause this-- and would be the second thing I would check. You are using a separate 12volt power pack -- correct?

10"LX200 EMC that will not

This model LX200 classic has weak capacitors that blow out with age. Go to the Yahoo LX200 group-- post a message with the problem for "Ron Sampson" he can repair the board if it is broken. Also Dr. Clay and Andrew also post to this web site--- they know a lot about LX200 electronics.

I have an LX200 12",the main circuit board (on base of scope) is blown.Where can I get a new one?

Usually these must come from Meade-- call their customer service department here:

Also you can contact Ron Sampson on the LX200 Yahoo group and he will repair the board if you can remove it and send it to him.

Meade LX200GPS 16" out of calibration?

Before you panic I would update the firmware/software on the telescope. With an LX200 interface cable you can upgrade the software in your telescope from your PC by going to Meade's web site at www.meade.com

Download Meade's ASU (Autostar Update Utility) and the latest software for your Autostar II absolutely free. You can also use the ASU to add Comets, Asteroids, Satellites, and User Objects to your Autostar II with a few simple clicks of the mouse.

I believe you can get the manual here.

Hello. I just bought an older, used Meade LX200 18...

The scope will run just fine on 12 volts. www.scopestuff.com sells the cigarette lighter cord for that telescope.

Call them here:

Recently acquired a used Meade 8" LX200 EMC. The unit presents very well cared for by previous owner. Upon receiving it, I followed the manual's instructions in assembly and then operation. Upon turning...

I have a LX200 EMC 10". I had a similar software problem and solved it by downloading AstroFinder, bypassed the onboard software of the telescope, and controlled the telescope via my laptop. This was a more user frriendly method and allowed easy alignment of the telescope.

Bolt holding dec drive motor on 16 loosens.

You have a LARGE Meade telescope. This should be an easy fix if you can disassemble the fork arm and get inside.

First I would contact Meade customer service to see if they have a manual that shows disassemble instructions. If not I would join the Yahoo LX200 forum and look for help there with an owner of the 16 inch model.

http://www.meade.com/support/index.html

Just search in Yahoo Groups for the LX200 forum.

On smaller scopes the DEC motor is held on by two spring loaded bolts, probably one has become loose?
