To get the bearings off you will first start by removing the eccentric gear part and you can't see it but you put an Allen key through the mounting hole of the sanding pad to remove it a vice is that easy and when it is off then fix the brass eccentric part with a large screwdriver and then manually remove the anchor from the cone wheel which drives the crown wheel. some needed tools phillips screwdriver, allen keys, vice, and a blade puller
DO YOU MEAN THE FOAM PADS? IF SO MOST OF THEM ARE PINCHED BETWEEN TWO PEICES OF THE HEADPHONES. YOU CAN EITHER SEE IF THERE ARE SCREWS PINCHING THEM, OR THERE IS AN ELASTIC BAND AROUND THE FOAM. YOU MAY HAVE TO STRECH IT INTO PLACE BETWEEN THE TWO PEICES OF PLASTIC.
I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll give it a go.
The DW421 is a sander already. If you want to change it to a polisher, you can buy polishing pads to go on it. If you have a Dewalt polisher and want to convert to a sander, you can buy sanding disks to fit your polisher. They are installed on the spindle and I believe you can get a backing pad for it also.
1. disconnect the power cord 2. turn polisher pad up 3, grip firmly randomiser in one hand (that is this bulky bit between pad and polisher) 4. grip pad and rotate it against arrow direction.
if you just need to change the abrasive, these are on hook and loop and you just lift it from the pad and replace with new one.
this action will separate pad from randomiser, if you need to remove randomiser as well, you will need spanner of appriopriate size or adjustable.
you have manual available for download on this site:
I have replaced velcro on various sanders , you just take the original velcro off and make sure that the base is very very clean, use turps and metho to clean it with then buy some velcro from a good hardware supplier and really good glue [two pack epoxy is best ] and simply cut to size and then just glue new velcro onto the base of the orbital sander
I'm not familiar with that particular model, but they are virtually all replaced the same way. There are a few screws through the pad into the base. Simply remove them and screw the new pad on. You'll see that it's quite simple once you get the new pad in your hands.
Just be careful not to strip the head of the screw: use the right size screwdriver tip.
