SOURCE: cant find my wireless card in device manager in acer travel mate 2300

Hi,

In some Acer models, there is a software switch in Start/All Programs/Acer Launch Manager. If this is missing, you need to reinstall since even with the WiFi hard switch activated, this application is required. This is so especially if a new/clean/OEM install of the OS has been done on the laptop.

In some models, there is a hard switch either at the front or at the side to activate the internal wifi (and bluetooth). Still in other, there is button on the leading edge of the computer which also serves as an indicator lamp,

Some models also have WiFI enable/disable in the BIOS/CMOS setup.

Still others have a button along with the Easy-launch strip (top) together with the those for email , bluetooth , Acer Arcade & others.

As shown above, depending on the specific model/region version of your laptop, the WifI activation can be varied.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: My Acer Aspire 4310 wireless

There is another driver for this laptop that's a different type of wifi card.
http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?recordid=4516&formid=3394&website=AcerPanAm.com/au&siteid=8116&words=all&keywords=&areaid=12
that's one but that's for WinXP
Here's a site where all the drivers for that particular model
http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?website=AcerPanAm.com/au&siteid=8116&areaid=12&formid=3394#results
You can go down by each one until you find the correct driver or you can take off the wifi cover under the laptop and look at the wifi card and it will tell you which model it is so that you won't have to try each one till you find the correct driver.

SOURCE: Driver for Wireless Network Adapter apparently not

There is not only Realtek, but two more, i.e. Atheros and Intel. You better install all of them and check which one will work.

Click here to download Realtek Wireless driver

Click here to download Atheros Wireless driver

Click here to download Intel Wireless driver

All these are for Windows 7 32 bit platform (s)

If you've already installed some or part of the above drivers, please uninstall them (installed drivers), restart your computer and install all these.
Let me know if the problem persists.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

SETTING UP A WIRELESS PRINTER WITHOUT A WIRELESS ROUTER - WINDOWS 7
Install Virtual Router first "Turn any Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 Computer into a Wifi Hot Spot."
EditByBSEditor: Virtual Router turns any Windows 7 or Windows 2008 R2 Computer into a Wifi Hot SPOT using Windows 7's Wireless Hosted Network (Virtual Wifi) technology.
The Wireless Network Create/shared with Virtual Router uses WPA2 Encryption, and there is not way to turn off that encryption. This is actually a feature of the Wireless Hosted Network API's built into Windows 7 and 2008 R2 to ensure the best security possible.
You can give your "virtual" wireless network any name you want, and also set the password to anything. Just make sure the password is at least 8 characters. http://www.brothersoft.com/virtual-router-327895.html Then install Connectify-Me Connectify is an easy to use software router for Windows 7 computers. After downloading and installing the lightweight application, Connectify utilizes your computers' built in Wi-Fi card to wirelessly share any available Internet connection: a cable modem, a cellular card, or even another Wi-Fi network. Other Wi-Fi enabled devices including laptops, smart phones, music players, and gaming systems can see and join your Connectify hotspot just like any other Wi-Fi access point and are kept safe and secure by password-protected WPA2 Encryption. http://www.connectify.me/ Then reboot computer

Hi, I have just re-loaded the Windows operating system onto my Compaq Presario 2143EA. Then I downloaded the Broadcom drivers for the wireless adapter via the HP website. However, it seems the actual...

If the adapter is present(uninstalled), it should be listed in device manager under other devices and NOT under network adapters. If you see the adapter there, right click it and click on update drivers. If you don't see the adapter even under other devices in device manager, you can restart the computer and check. If still can't see, check with a computer hardware technician who will open your computer and check if the wireless card is being provided with power and if the physical connections are ok.

For further clarifications, please revert!
Thanks for asking.

Brand new aspire 5732z laptop comes up with code 31 fault on virtual wifi miniport adaptor says it has driver fault, what can I do

The Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter is a new feature in Windows 7, Wireless Hosted Network:

About the Wireless Hosted Network

This device is just a virtual device and it should not affect connecting the wireless network with the physical wireless adapter.

Hence, I’d suggest you to uninstall and re-install only the wireless network adapter drivers from Device manager and check if that fixes the issue.

Before uninstalling the drivers from the device manager, make sure you have a backup of the installation files.

It’s a good idea to create a restore point before uninstalling the drivers. A restore point is a representation of a stored state of your computer's system files. You can use a restore point to restore your computer's system files to an earlier point in time. Restore points are automatically created by System Restore weekly and when System Restore detects the beginning of a change to your computer, such as when you install a program or a driver.

Create a restore point
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Create-a-restore-point

Visit the manufacturer’s website, download the latest wireless drivers and save it on your hard disk.

To uninstall the wireless connection from Device Manager,

1. Click Start, type Device Manager in the Start search box and hit Enter.
2. Locate Network adapters and expand the same.
3. Select the wireless connection, right-click and select Uninstall.
4. Restart the computer, if prompted.

Drivers should get installed automatically after restarting the computer.

Now, you may install the latest wireless drivers and check if that fixes the issue.

Hope this helps

Lost wireless capability

You need first to check if the wireless adapter is installed properly, Ricght click My computer>Properties>Hardware tab>Device manager>look for network adapter and check if the wireless adapter is listed if its there right click on it and go to properties and check the device status..

If the adapter is not showing under network adapter look for anything that says Unknown or other device and you that's where you can find a improper installed device you just need to install the driver for that.

Hope that helps........

Belkin N1 Wireless USB Adapter

Hi Emma,
Try these first:

change channels to 1-6-or 11. Make sure you change all of your wireless computers.

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones1.gif and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones in the area and see if it helps.
Please let me know how you make out.
thanks
