The Nortel Meridian phones in our office have passwords enabled. For many of us who don't handle critical company or financial information, the password system is just a nuisance. You have to enter it to get your messages, and you have to change it periodically. Is there any way to 'opt out' of the password system, and not use a password?

We have phone systems that have been used by previous branches of the state. Our district manager called our phone servicing people and explained to them that we are having to reset our password every 2-3 months or so and the rep states there is no setting on our phone that prompts for this. He also goes on to say to me that because the floor below us doesn't seem to be having this problem, then we don't have this problem. In essence its just a mass hallucination and we are all experiencing this I guess!!! I am a bit irritated now as my phone is the main calling number and the rest of the staff is definitely frustrated as they end up locking themselves out of their phones then it takes days to get a reset. Which personally I do not understand. But anyway, please please clarify these steps you have listed, because I don't have a manual and what you posted is totally alien to me. thank you in advance
