The plastic frame in the sata port is missing. Therefore, connectors fall out and I can't read the data on the drive. Hello. You are correct that there are no jumpers, however, when you connected the SATA cable to the Internal hard drive, did you notice there were two similar connectors. One was for the SATA the other, longer one is for the POWER for the drive. If your SATA to USB has both connectors make sure they are both installed properly. Be careful you don't break those little plastic tabs because they are not warrantied. If the drive does have power and spins up then it may not be initialized (formatted) and will need to be initialized using START, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management. or just click on start and type diskmgmt.msc in the RUN box. Hope this helps..
The SATA RAID interface needs to be compatible with SATA revision V2.0. Check the drives with the Seagate diagnostic tool (download it from Seagate) for correct operation. This will also check / test the SATA interface. Connect the drives directly to a PC with SATA interface to do this. If proven OK then use the RAID board.
Possibly there's a way to downgrade to SATA-1 using a Seagate tool.
1) Open your computer case 2) On the back of the drive where the
connectors are, you have jumpers. These small plastic tabs change the
function of your hard drive. All hard drives have a special setup
procedure. The information about jumper settings is on the top of the
hard drive. 3) Remove plastic tabs and put them according to "Slave" instructions. 4) Connect drive to middle connector of the cord.
5) Connect power supply cord. 6) Secure the drive in place and close computer case.
Also make sure that the main drive is not set as slave.
remove the side panels to access your computers hard drive
put an earth ******** to earth yourself before proceeding
there are 4 screws 2 either side of the hrd drve
unplug the electrical lead followed by the IDE/SATA what ever applies
have a good look at the plastic jumper & the pin settings usually located at the rear of the hard drive next to IDE/SATA lead before removing anything
then place the new hard drive in rembering to look at the plastic jumper and its location
plug the electical & IDE/SATA lead in
restart your computer
1. For SATA, you just need a second SATA cable to plug it in and a power cable from the power supply.
2. For IDE, you will need a second IDE cable to plug the second hard drive, AND you will have to set both hard drives jumpers either to cable select or one Master and the other one Slave, based on which one you have the operating system.
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA and
the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
good luck
hi..there....i think if you can get e sata cable to connect between external and pc at you country is very bad news..but maybe you can get it in another store...last time when i visit bangkok thailand i'm very happy because i can get all componnet for pc..i buy a internal card reader that include the e sata connection is around 400 baht and the cable connector for it (power and data cable) is around 100 baht. so if you have friend at tahiland (bangkok) you may ask them to buy it for you and send it to your place....

yes i gathered that... but the tab that you plug the cord in has broken off ?
the tab broke right off ?
