I have a GE Spacemaker JVM1533WD, and the turntable mostly doesn't turn. The microwave always heats, however. Usually, after the microwave has not been used for a long time (like overnight), the turntable will work. After the microwave stops, though, even if the door hasn't been opened, the turntable won't work.
I've tried removing the glass turntable and rollers, and the spoke to turn it still won't rotate. I've tried moving it by hand first, but that has no effect.
I'd love to be able to fix this myself if possible; I'm comfortable with tools (including soldering irons) but don't know how to diagnose the problem further.
Thanks,
dan
It sounds like you have a jamming turntable motor.
The turntable system
consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers,
and the tray.
You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should
sound when you rotate it by hand.
If
yours won't rotate
or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or
plastic coupler.
To
replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover
of the oven.
