Dear Sirs, I have a Rolex Daytona watch new and I have a problem. The hour is delayed too and can not operate for more than a couple of hours. This watch is a gift from a family and can not find the...

This is a self winding watch and should run for 2-3 days when fully wound.

To wind it, wave it gently from side to side for about 200 times.

If you still have problems, speak to Rolex, they should be able to sort out your problem. (see rolex.com).

Want to know if my rolex is fake it states winner rolex addaytona 1992 24 on the back and rolex oyster perpetual superlative chronometer officially certified cosmograph on the front has three dials stating...

Sorry to say it's a reproduciton..and not a very accurate one..

The three front dials should not reference any days hour dates etc..

There should be nothing engraved on the back

The "second hand" is a sweep timer hand on the original.. it should be stationary at the noon position unless activated.

Probably a good looking watch.. but it's not a Rolex.

Best of luck

I have bought a new daytona but after every few hours it just stops anf i have to reset it again.its quite frustrating

A Rolex watch is automatic. It needs to be worn 8 hours per day to store enough power to run 36 hours off the wrist.Assuming that you are wearing the watch daily if it still stops there is a problem with the auto winding or mainspring. As a new watch it will be under the Rolex guarantee so return it to the place of purchase. If you dont have a guarantee contact www.rolexrepairs.co.uk for advice or a free estimate.

Skips time

If it is not a feature built in to the watch to save power when it needs winding, I would say it has a bad gear wheel inside.
I would go here, join, and ask in the Rolex Forum,

How do i set the the 24 hour hand in a rolex 16758

Yours is the original GMT Master. The GMT Master II allows the GMT hand and the regular hour hand to be set differently but not on your older model. On yours, the regular hour hand the the GMT hand are fixed so that if the triangle on the rotating bezel is at the top, the GMT hand will indicate local time. To indicate time in a 2nd timezone, rotate the bezel to orient the time to the GMT hand. There's a copy of the original instructions posted at: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=45269

Like to know more about my rolex daytona?

The daytona you describe that has 24 hours at Daytona on the back is a relatively cheap replica daytona. It probably has a 21J japanese or chinese movement, and will probably not last very long under normal wear. The better ones out there are about $100, but you can get them for much less. The chronos do not function as the genuine daytona. The move and measure something, but who knows what. So, this is a cheap imitation of the rolex daytona, and by no means is the best replica out there. There are better ones available with asian copies of the valjoux 7750 movement. These movements also vary in quality from the cheaper ones that run at 21,600bph, or the more upgraded mov'ts @28800bph. These have the running seconds at 6 position and hours at the 9 position. You can search the web for a dealer that sells these better daytonas. Prices van start at around $190.00 and run up to more than $650.00 for the same watch and mov't. Depends on the dealer.. So, shop with knowledge and ask many questions before you ever purchase. You can get a reliable replica with automatic movement, depending on what model you're looking for... for less than $300. The SS series 116520 you can get a genuine looking replica for $140 to $223. E-mail me personally and I'll tell you how to get information on ordering this Daytona replica.

Rolex daytona

Rolex does not engrave the case back. If it says 24 hours at Daytona, or wording like that, the watch is not real... It's a fake, or as we say more kindly.. It's a replica, and can be bought on any replica watch web site for $30 to $80, for an automatic mov't.,  21J, made in China.
Also, the sub-dials will not function on this watch. A Daytona needs the proper movement to operate the chronograph as it was intended..... To act as a stopwatch.. and measure time... seconds, minutes and hours. This is done by activating pushers at 2 and 4 positions, and the pushers on 21J replicas just don't operate a chron. for the purpose of measuring time. They may move and measure something else, like military time, or the date, but definitely not record seconds, minutes or hours. There are also no manuals on how to operate the Daytona that comes with these replica watches. You should know how this watch functions and how to operate the pushers, and what they do before you should buy and enjoy this type of chronograph watch. It's simple, just take the time to ask people in the know... how the daytona works, what the sub-dials measure and how to use them, etc. In no time you'll understand the operation of this beautifully made watch. Unfortunately, a daytona is out of reach for most of us... That's why seeking out a quality rolex replica for much less money is the way to go if you love this watch... A quality one can look, feel, and function just as good as the authentic Daytona, and you won't have to out out over $10K to get one.

Rolex ad Daytona 1992 replica

The advice given here is accurate to a degree. When wound, a rolex daytona IS running. However, it is the running seconds hand in the small sub-dial that is actually running. In the earlier Daytonas, this sub-dial was at the 9 o'clock position on the dial, (pre-2001 series daytonas). The later daytonas, from 2001 on, use the seconds at 6 position for counting seconds. The main sweeping second hand on the watch dial will NOT start until activated by the pusher at the 2 position. That pusher needs to be unscrewed and then pushed to start the large sweeping second hand. This action, in turn, starts the remaining 2 sub-dials in motion, counting minutes and hours. To stop the chronograph function, you push the pusher @ the 2 position again, to stop the sub-dial hands from counting, and then push the pusher @ the 4 position to re-set the dials to their "straight up position". This stops the chrono's function, until it is needed again, BUT the main running seconds, (at either the 9 or 6 sub-dial position, depending on the year series of the daytona) will continue to run, thus keeping accurate time.  Hope this gives you a better idea of how the timekeeping of the chronograph function on a Daytona works. So, to start your seconds running you need to start the chrono function by pressing the pusher at the 2 position. That will allow you to see the large sweeping second hand I think you're referring to here. Hope this has helped.
