Hello,

Thank you for posting here in Fixya.com

The beeping sound is not a problem. Most computers produce a beeping sound when you start your computer up.

Thank you,

Carlo

hi thanks, but the beeping sound was way too long about 30 seconds or more. they said it could be memory problem.

Yes, that's possible. Try resetting the memory.

There's a sound during startup

Hello,

There is no problem with your computer. It's just natural to have a beeping sound during start up. If there is, then it will show an error message in the screen.

If it's just a short beep, then it's normal.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS SIZE OF MY PC'S RAM

If you are using windows, right-click on the 'My Computer' or 'Computer' icon on the desktop or start menu. Select properties, you will find your RAM specs there. Alternately you can check it in your BIOS by hitting a key during startup, the key is different on different systems, it should tell you during the early stages of the boot process, saying something like ' For Setup' or 'Del to Enter Setup'

On startup there is 4 beeps then 2 then nothing. The laptop belongs to my grandouther.the power coard was frade,so my guess is that's where the problem started.

Beep codes are used by the BIOS during the POST to report certain initial system errors.
If you're hearing beep codes after you turn your computer on, it typically means that the system has encountered some kind of problem before it was able to display any kind of error information on the monitor.
Follow the steps below to determine what system problem the beep code is representing.
Difficulty: Average Time Required: Anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours depending on the cause of the beep code Here's How:
  1. Power on the computer or restart it if it's already on.
  2. Listen very carefully to the beep codes that sound when the computer begins to boot.
Restart your computer if you need to hear the beeping again. You're not likely to make whatever problem you have worse by restarting a few times.
  3. Write down, in whatever way makes sense to you, how the beeps sound.
Important: Pay close attention to the number of beeps, if the beeps are long or short and if the beeping repeats or not. There is a big difference between a "beep-beep-beep" beep code and a "beep-beep" beep code.
This is all important information that will help determine what issue the beep codes are representing.
  4. What steps you take to solve a particular beep code will differ depending on the BIOS manufacturer.
Choose the correct beep code troubleshooting guide below based on your motherboard's BIOS manufacturer:
Tip: Not sure what brand of BIOS is on your motherboard? See this How to Determine Your Motherboard BIOS Manufacturer guide for some helpful advice.

The beeps during startup depend on the BIOS. Here are some possible causes of the seven slow beeps on different bios:
AMI (American Megatrends') = virtual mode exception error.AST Research = Processor register read/write verify test failed. Compaq = AGP video.Mylex = DMA page registrater error.
there are others which i didn't include....

My netbook is generally running very slow, what can I do to improve speed

Hi
To speedup your netbook follow these steps;
1. Remove if any apps in the 'startup' (like instant messaging, dictionary, world clock openoffice etc (just remove it from the startup folder) Make sure programs like these are not starting up when you boot up else your netbook will feel slow.
2. Be sure that you are running your spyware and virus scanners are working, updated, and have fully scanned your system. These malicious pieces of software can slow down a fast system. They will wreck the speed on your netbook if you aren't careful.
3. One upgrade that you can do to your system that is cheap and easy to do on your own is to add RAM. It's best to maximize your netbook's RAM for best performance.
4. Uninstall unwanted or heavy load softwares.
5. Don't have open programs that you aren't using minimized. If you aren't going to use a program, shut it off. Try to only have a few programs open at once.
6. Use cloud based applications. These are software that you can use that are being processed on a server versus your machine. This is a better way to multitask on your netbook.
7. Consider adding Linux or buying a Linux netbook versus a Windows netbook. Typically the Linux netbooks do run much faster as they are designed to take up less resources making your netbook run much faster.
8. Delete temp files.
9. Running heavy loaded softwares will make the battery hot, that way the battery life is shortened which causes a slow running netbook.
Hope this helps.

At the startup my presario v3000 gives continues beeps (loudly) when press the enter key its lorded xp, but some icons in the desktop is bliking, during this time left mouse button not respond, using key...

Does that still happen when the mouse is unplugged? If so, you'll need to replace your defective mouse.

Otherwise if you recently installed something and now this is happening, try to uninstall it.

My Toshiba netbook NB200 just won't turn on any farther, stuck at 'Welcome' logo. Can somebody tell me what can I do?

try reseating the memory by pulling it out and putting it back in!!! it might be loose and causing the motherboard to freeze up

if that don't work

try running it in safe mode, soon as computer come on press f8 and keep tapping it until you hear a beep and then choose safemode, save your information from there and then reload Windows!!!
