It's been working fine but now twice, there's water on my table and all over the floor. Must have been leaking all the time I was napping; a couple hours. It just started doing this. What could the problem be? I have it in my living room and it's put out enough humidity that my nose is dry in our winter weather.
SOURCE: Hunidifier doesn't add enough moisture to air
here is the link to the manual for the w7 - they suggest a replacement wick filter would solve the problem due to bacteria or mineral build up - i would expect this to solve your problem as the only way these wicks can not soak up the water to the top is if they are clogged or the tank is empty. try the cleaning routine on page 9 first - might be enough but the wicks probably will need replacing soon anyway. http://www.bionaire.com/manuals/W7_English.pdf Hope this helps :)
SOURCE: Fan is running but humidity is not changing
Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.
A: First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture
as your air is already saturated.
UV bulb and filter are user replacement items

If water level in tank is dropping and fan runs then I'd say it is working.
OK?

Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don’t see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?
A: Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no
“mist” emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the
water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit
is operating normally.
SOURCE: How do I know my aprilair 760 humidifier is working?
A simple check you can perform on your aprilaire 760 is the following:
1) locate the two brown wires coming out of the 760 (these wires will be wired to tell the 760 to turn on when the hvac bower is on and the humidistat is calling for moisture).
2) temprarily disconnect the two brown wires from the external wiring and then short the wires together. All you're doing here is bypassing the your thermostat and bower-on indicator.
With the 70 unit plugged in to the wall outlet and the two brown wires connected together, both the fan and the solenoid valve (water inlet valve) should both be activated.
SOURCE: Air-o-Swiss room humidifier (model 7142) No mist flows
It is intersting that several folks seem to be having this problem. In early December 2009 I noticed that the replacement AOS demineralization granules were wet when I opened the sealed metal envelope. I opened a couple of others and they were the same way. After a couple of weeks after replacement, the unit started puffing steam before it stopped altogether. My husband opened the cartridge and said all the crystals were clumped to one side. I emptied out the cartridge and ran it for a few days (about 4) without any crystals until it stopped generating mist altogether. Air still flows and the heater works. But it appears that the ultrasonic disc in the bottom of the unit quit. Not sure if this was all coincidental... Especially when seeing several other people with the same problems over the last couple of months.
Tonight the AOS customer service/tech support said I shouldn't run the unit without the crystals but they appeared to be concerned about the white dust.
Anyway, the AOS U7142 has a three year warranty. If you have a receipt call customer service at 1-800-336-0326 immediately. If it is after three years they said they would charge $60 to fix it.
