VCR's have an electronic system inside them that detects what position the VCR mechansim is in. If it gets conflicting messages it will shut the system down to prevent damage. Conflicts can be caused by damage itself to the drive system. They also have a mode switch which tells the electronics what position the VCR is in. However these can go wrong and say give out a message that video is play when in fact it's in eject mode! These conflicts can also arise to when the drive is broken and can't stop the transport mechanism.

How do I hook my Sanyo DVD/VCR player to my slyvania TV

Wow - lots of info needed about your tv for a good answer there. But I can assume you only have a cable TV hookup on the back of your TV - and dont have a RCA input. So I will go on that. I had an old TV and had just this situation... I used my VCR to interface the DVD player for me.

So I ran the DVD player output to my VCR ( that had the typical RCA cables ) - Vidieo - Right channel- left channel - and then ran the VCR output COAX ( standard cable TV cable ) from my VCR to my old TV. once I selected channel 3 or 4 on my tv, I could see my VCR and my VCR would send me the DVD output, if I set the VCR to do that. Now I could record a DVD onto VHS ( for my personal use only of course ) good luck...

A VCR / DVD player is not a recorder. If it is a recorder you need to advise what input and output ports you have on each of the devices that you wish to connect, then the connection would be from the cable box thro' the recorder and into the TV.

My Slyvania tv/vcr has an old tape stuck in it. It wont come out and it shuts the tv off too. Any suggestions?

Hello
The tape film has been coiled with its VCR mechanism parts and prevents the mechanism to shut OFF properly. This situation will be sensed by the main system control IC of your TV and it will shut the whole system OFF. That is happening now. To rectfy this, you have to open the unit and take out all the coiled tape film from the mechanism. In fact, the set should be deassembled as a whole. If you hav enough tools to do it, you can do it by yoursef. There is no components to be replaced. Only remove this coilde film from the mechanism OK.

Manual code entry

1.Turn on your television or other electronic component that you want to program the remote control for.

2.Hold down the "Code Search" or "Setup" button until the LED indicator light turns on.

3.Hit the button for the component that you are programming (TV, DVD, VCR, etc.). The LED light should flicker and stay on.

4.Enter the 3-digit or 4-digit code that corresponds to the TV or device that you're operating. The LED light should go off if the code is valid, but will flash if it is not. Try other codes you have.
