Dlink DIR-615 won't hard reset. dont know the password

Do you have the Internet connected to the Internet port in the back of the DLINK? You will have to configure the DLINK for internet access. Open a web browser to your DLINK and check on the configuration under internet-setup. Select the type of internet connection you have i.e. DHCP, PPPoE, Static, etc. Once that is set up, you should have access to the internet like before.

You need to secure your wireless network with WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer'sLAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configurationURL..

The default login = admin
The default PW = blank (just press Enter)You can now change the default admin password.

I assume you're talking about the wireless network, not the wired network.
This password is manually set, not predetermined. To know/change it you'll have to use a network cable to connect to the router instead of wireless.
Once connected, open up your browser to 192.168.0.1, this should bring up the router's web configuration page, from there:
- Login (by default: user: Admin, pw: <blank>
- select WIRELESS SETTINGS and press the "Manual Wireless Network Setup" button
- you should see the configured wireless password at the bottom under the "Wireless Security Mode" section.

if you failed to login with Admin/<blank> combination it means the password is changed previously, in this case, you must reset your router.

Quote from user manual, here's how to reset it:
"To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.

Press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in the back side of router. then all settings goes to defaults. connect router to computer lan port with lan cable. then you can access it with default ip addresshttp;//192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.1.2 Type user as 'admin" and password as "admin" or "1234" or "password" or blank then you can see configuration page of router. You will need to reset the router to factory defaults before you can connect to Virgin Moble there should be a reset button on the back of the router press and hold for 30sec. and then reboot it

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

In the web interface of dir-615 switch it to router mode, adjust wan connection (username, password... depend on your Internet provider, in fact, it is easier to ask their tech support to provide all necessary information) then configure wireless network.

If you cannot remember the username and password to get into the Dlink configuration, you will need to do a hard reset on the router. Look for the resessed button, that will be the reset button. Hold the reset button in for at least 10 seconds and this will reset the router. Then you can use the default username and password that was set up on the router when it came from the factory.

Then open your internet explorer browser and put http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. chose Admin for the username and leave the password blank. This will get you into the router configuration.

When you configure the "wireless" adapter inside the D-Link router, you should set:
* an SSID (a name for your wireless network)
* an encryption-level - hint: use 'WPA'
* a password for your wireless network

Once you've done the configuration, use the SSID/password on your iPod Touch.

It appears your brother has changed your wireless router settings.
You can reset the Dlink back to the default settings by -
Power off the Dlink and press and hold the RESET button on the back of the Dlink and the power on the Dlink. Hold the RESET button for 5 secs. until the LEDs flash at the same time.
Connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Dlink. Open a browser and enter the Dlink's configuration URL
http://192.168.0.1
Default login = admin
PW = blank (just press Enter)
You can now change the admin password and set up a new passphrase (ie encryption)
