the 'power cord' charges at the ONLY USB port. If you plug it in to power, you cannot plug it into the computer.

I experienced the same thing. The compact power adapter is simply the power cord used also to recharge the camcorder. Plug it into the wall at the same time as you have the USB plugged into the computer and it should be able to download.

You have to also plug in the power cord at the same time.

How to down load the digital video camera recorder DCR TRV 285E pal

there are few options:
1. use the software you got in the CD that came with the camera.
2. connect the camera with a USB to Mini USB cable to the computer and then you can use it as a refular hard disc
3. search google for video editor free software- there are many. Then you can streamline the signal to the computer and capture the video with the recording function.
4. in case you have a DVD recorder (not the one in the computer, the actual device connected to the TV) you can connect the camera to it and record to a writable DVD.

Can i use a usb connection to transfer video from my gs-250 to a pc?

Yes, your camera should have come with a cord. If not, another device, like your cellphone might have the same cord to use. You can also check Radioshack to see what cord they recommend.

I have JVC digital video camera GR-DX37AS i have trouble in recording my files from camera to CD via USB mode . the error message shown is USB connection failure

If Your system is OK with all drivers installed, and before the trouble You have recorded to CD any video from Your camera, try to connect the cam with another USB cable. Then try to connect the cam to another usb port, or better to another PC. If the problem persist, the USB of the cam is damaged and must to be repaired in service center. Best regards.

PC won't recognize

I don't know why they did this, but this camera requires the camera to be plugged into the AC adapter (via battery charger) in order to be able to transfer the data to the computer.

I cant put pictures onto computer?

you have several options.
1. see first what operating system you computer runs.
if it is vista or mac, it will be recognized as unknown device,
look for SSCAM100 or DCIM folder. you will then see the camera files in that folder.

2. you should also download the cd driver, the cd that comes with the camera, to your PC. this will help the connection be proper.

3. if you're using desktop, try to connect the camera at the back of your tower. look for a USB port at the back of the tower and connect USB cord to it.

4. make sure you're using the proper USB cable, the cable that comes with the camera. for your S630, it is USB cable type 2.

5. also, make sure before you connect camera to PC, camera is turned off, when the USB cord is properly connected, that is the time camera should be turned on.

6. when unpluggin the camera to PC, make sure that you are safely removing the device from the PC so you will not have future connection problems.

hope my suggestions work for you.
