SOURCE: Washer makes loud thumping after finished spin cycle

Remove washer cabinet (easy to remove)and check that "base pads" (there are 3 pads, located under the main tub)are not worn. In case they are worn (even one of them), you should replce them all. Good luck !!

SOURCE: loud noise at end of spin cycle

The most common cause of the symptom you are describing is a bad drive block which has probably ruined your basket drive as well. Let me give a quick explination. The weight of the basket you put your clothes in is supported entirely in the center of the washer underneath your agitator. It rests on an aluminum block called your drive block. So that the basket will move back and forth while the washer agitates, there are two tabs on the drive block that lock your basket drive underneath in place. Once the drive block wears out or round down these tabs, the basket will raise slightly and "skip" across the top when the spin cyle is stopped. To verify this, you can check one of two things. First (and easiest) is put a heavy, large load in the washer, get it wet then spin it out. Once the washer reaches the maximum spin speed, open the lid. The washer should snap to a halt when functioning properly. What I belive you'll find is that even with the lid open, the basket will continue to spin. The other method to verify this is take the top of the agitator off. Next remove the bolt in the middle of the agitator and lift the agitator off. In the middle, you should find a large flat metal colored nut.In the middle of that nut, you should see two tabs across from one another. There should be two straight pieces of metal coming up from the bottom which have nice, straight sharp corners. Again, if I am correct, you will find they have been rounded off and there may even be shavings of metal visable.
To replace a basket drive and drive block, you will need to purchase the parts and also a specialty tool from removal and instalation. These will probably run you around 125-175. If you are interested in giving it a go, reply back to me and I will get you some step-by-stpe instructions typed up.

SOURCE: agitator will not work on wash cycle

Order the upper aggitator clutch/dog kit $15. Now top half of the aggitator is doing its thing just like the bottom half. Hope this helps someone else too.

What causes our front loading washer to make exceeding loud noise when it enters a spin?

Sounds like a bearing seal is going. The seal has ruptured and grease of seeping out. The loud noise is the bearings rubbing against each other without adequate grease to reduce the friction. Failure will come soon if it is not fixed. The vibration is coming from the friction and possibly damaged ball bearings .

Frigidare Gltf1040as0

Good Afternoon Carrie,

I understand that you are hearing a loud noise in the spin cycle as well as water leaking from your Frigidaire washer, model# GLTF1040AS0.

You will commonly hear a high pitched "jet engine" noise during the spin cycle. If you are hearing a vibrating noise, it could be your washer is not resting firmly on the floor. With this you will adjust the leveling legs so the washer is level. If after leveling your washer you are still receiving a vibrating sound, you might want to redistribute the wash load inside your appliance.

If after you redistribute the wash load, you are still hearing a loud noise in the spin cycle, I suggest contacting a local authorized technician.

For the leak I recommend contacting a technician. This way they are able to find where the leak might be coming from and repair it before there is any damage done to your appliance. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Kenmore 90 Series Washer Noise--Won't spin

For Tegres
If the noise is only when there is water flowing, check tighten the screws that mount the water fill solenoid valves to the case. The solenoids operate on line current so they vibrate at 60/50Hz (local suppply frequency) if they are loose at all, the noise is loud the body acts as resonators

For SRONEAL, that symptom describes coupling failure exactly, have you removed the coupling to check, often times the motor side hub is stripped, but there is no visible external damage
