Canon VC-C4 vs Logitech webcam

I am using a Video & Voice Over IP application using the Logitech quick cam pro 9000 but would like to get a sharper and higher resolution image. Someone suggested that I try the Cannon VC-C4. Will the VC-C4give me the desirable output I am seeking? Will I need specific drivers for the VC-C4? How do I interface the VC-C4 to my computer?

Thaks in advance,
Antoine.

DO you realize that this camera cost around 900 US$? - Might be a little overkill for VOIP.
Apart form that it is an excellent camera. Have look at the manual here.
The camera connects via RS232 (9DSub) or 8pin DSub and you can/have to download the software form Canon's web page.

hi freeman319

you might want to try and uninstall the quickcam application. as i've researched skype is having problems with certain cams compatibility. just try and uninstall the quickcam application but not the drivers. with this you may still be able to use the quickcam with other applications.
you can uninstall it through the control panel>add remove programs

also if you are using a headset or separate mic and headset with the video call you would want to disable the mic on the quickcam
go into Device Manager and disable the microphone in the Pro 9000

ofcourse this is just some things you can try but is not guaranteed to solve your issue. please let me know if this works. thanks.

hope this helps

Look to find remote and power supply for vc-c4

The VC-C4 uses a Canon WL-V5 remote control, available at B&H Photo here. They also have a power supply for the VC-C50 here. The VC-C50 is almost identical in specification to the VC-C4, it's just a newer model. The electrical power requirements are the same.

Hi i have a logitech quick cam for notebooks pro

Many webcams can only be accessed by one software package at a time. You have another software package that is currently using that cam, even if you aren't actively using that software. Do you have an Instant Message software application running? Or a video capture software? Check the TSRs (Terminate and Stay Resident) applications in your lower-right corner (assuming you're using a Windows software package), and turn off anything you don't need. Then try the webcam again.

Can't get Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 to work on Gmail?

I had this problem but I fixed it. The google chat uninstaller does not uninstall everything. Go to the hidden folder Application Data of the default or local user in the Documents and Settings folder of the C drive, you will find the plugin folder for google chat. Delete it and then reinstall the plugin and it will work.
C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\Application Data

Logitech quick cam pro 9000

Hello!

Logitech does not support Quick Cam Pro 9000 on MAC OS. The only two supported operating systems are Windows XP and Windows Vista.

You might go with a bit more expensive Quick Cam Vision Pro that is supported on Mac.
