We added a new server, Intel R2308IP4LHPC, to the inside network protected by a Cisco 5505 Firewall in transparent firewall mode. This intel server cannot access the outside world, and cannot be accessed from the outside except for one of three ip assigned as management. The rest of the machines are of various age and brands, from an old VAX up to the latest HP Proliant, and they work ok. We haven't got a clue. Any input is appreciated.

PPPoE is not supported when failover is configured on the security appliance, or in multiple context or transparent mode. PPPoE is only supported in single, routed mode, without failover.

1. Change your PCs default gateway to your firewalls' internal IP
2. configure the nameservers on your ASA
Then internet will work fine.

Forgot to mention we are using Debian 6 on the intel server. However we think it is some kind of hardware problem.
This case could be closed. The problem disappeared once the firewall was rebooted.
