TECHNICS SL1200MK2 RPM Buttons getting stuck..

After 7 years of faithful service, my SL1200 MK2 33 and 45 RPM buttons are jamming up..Sometimes the light is on both when I try to switch between 33 and 45, or it takes a few taps to change it back. The problem seems to be (I am not a real tech nerd) the 33rpm button (it feels a bit loose or just old or something when I hit it..)..Probably need to open it up and just clean it or something, but is there an "easy way" to get to the top or the turntable? Any ideas? Cheers, Ed C Melbourne Australia.

Try some anti-static record cleaner. You can also get an anti-static matt to put the records on.

How to remove the wheel on sl1200 turntable

I presume you mean the Platter / the part that spins.
It should just lift off, it is not fastened in any way but does sometimes get stuck.
The best method is to lift the platter by putting your fingers through the holes and then tap the spindle with a small hammer or the end of a decent sized screwdriver - this usually releases it.

Hi, I have a jammed height adjuster on a Technics SL1200MK2. Does anyone know a way of fixing this?

Quite often grit and dust gets into the thread and jams it up.
If the deck was in my workshop I'd remove the actual tonearm and phono cord etc and after applying a little penitrating fluid I'd "encourage" the arm base to unscrew - not subtle but somtimes a little force is needed.

EVERYTIME I PLAY A RECORD IT DRAGS TO PICK UP SPEED

Are you sure you have a Technics SL1200MK2 Direct Drive Turntable? If so, then there is a major problem with the drive system. This can only be diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician.

If your turntable is not the Techics SL1200MK2, and you have no idea what turntable you have, look at the model's label, if it says BELT DRIVE - this is the reason why it drags to pick up speed. If it says DIRECT DRIVE, then take it to a service center for repair.
