SOURCE: Stuck battery/ScanDisk card
Unfortunately, you have to force the battery door (very carefully) to open it, and find what is wrong with it.
It is more likely that when closed the battery door, it was forced and it slided out of one guide channels.
You need to practice a little bit before to try it with force (genlty but with firm force), but the only way to do it is slide the button to open it, and at the same time slide to the side and pull the battery door, everything at the same time. Try it until you are able to open it.
Using any kind of tool (such a plastic pry tool, a small screwdriver, etc) to force will leave marks in the housing, and it's very possible that the plastic locking tabs will break, causing that you will open it, but unable to close properly again.
Best regards,

Just keep the lock open and slide the lid a bit harder, if your fingers are slipping, use some cloth to assist, it will come open.

The door has an interlock on it. You probably broke the door. The door on some of these cameras can be replaced from the outside. You must make sure the interlock switch is not broken as well. The tabs on the housing of the camera can get bent or snapped off if enough force is used.
A broken door will be $75 there abouts, installed.
A broken detect switch, adds about $45 (A board).
A broken case may set you back an additional $75

Sounds like two things are happening here. You may be putting the card in improperly...check the manual to see if the card should be face up or face down. Also, be sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position.
