Printer says cover is open when its not

Remove the cartridges from the printer, then close the covers. Unplug the printer from the power source. Plug it back in after 10-15 seconds. Check if "cover is open" message is still coming up on the display. If yes, the cover sensor may have gotten stuck when you opened the printer to change the cartridges. Try to exercise the lever to release the tension. If problem persists, I advise you to call Lexmark. If not, proceed on reloading the cartridges. Close the covers. Let it print the alignment page all the way through without cancelling it. Hope this helps. If you need more assistance, leave a comment and I'll get back to it. Thanks.

Error mesage

No solution, but I have the same problem. THe printer starts up fine, I hear no grinding noises or other "funny" nioses, and then displays no error message... UNTIL I ask it to print. Then I get a message that says, "Pls (please) Open Cover".

I open the cover and it says "Please Close Cover".

I close the cover and it says, "Please Open Cover"

and this happens forever!

Does anyone have any ideas? Can anyone help me?

Printer cover open error message

I had that problem too.

Unplug the printer.
Hold the printer cover open while you plug in the printer.
Then wait for the printer to power on while still holding the cover open.
Then close the cover.
The buttons should work and th error message should be gone.

It worked for me.
