The only way possible to see if the touch pads are working is to test the voltage of the control pads when it contacts. The input of the Microprocessor should be checked for the pad control impulse to come in. If there is no trigger voltage to the mP this can be the control pad problem.
The mP must be checked for the working voltage and also the frequency oscillation at the crystal leads. If so the mP is working with a suspected control pads which are not able to set the program or timing.
There is no way but to remove the sticker pad and replace, One difficult way to have a chance is to remove the carbon sticker pads and check continuity , You can use a carbon pen to line the tracks so that the multi-meter reads a continuity. With this you can have a temporary fix. Use a dryer to warm carefully to dispere any moisture but if the pads are worn you need to replace.

Condensation between door glasses

This moisture can accumulate from certain types of cooking (lots of boiling) in the microwave or in extreme cases, from a blocked grease filter or exhaust vent duct.

Spills or large amounts of accumulated moisture should be wiped off. Minor amounts can dry out by themselves easier if you leave the door open after cooking.

Also, when boiling on the stovetop, you should always use the hood vent exhuast fan to keep steam and grease out of the controls and the door area of the microwave. I always recommend using the vent fan with any cooking on the stovetop.

As long as it is not rusting the metal mesh screen or other parts of the door, it can be allowed to dry out over a period of days with the door open.

If it is a convection microwave, using the convection heat will help it dry.

Touchpad will not work after boiling water underneath it for 12 minutes without fan humidity cause touch pad to stop working , I have a GE mdv 2040 with green display touch pad

you can change the touchpad to help with this but whenever you have a microwave over a range you are going to have issues with this. you have to make sure you use the vent on high whenever broiling anything to prevent the moisture from getting in the touch pad because all your touchpad consists of is two stickers and some flat wire so moisture can easily getting into it cause it to stop working for a period of time. but changing it is the best thing you can do

I always recommend that folks use the vent / hood fan anytime they're cooking with the stove.

Was it on at the time?

If not, moisture can certainly get into the works and cause problems or damage. If it dries out, it's fine but if not, it could cause damage.

Microwave problem

Is it possible that grease or moisture got into the controls? This can happen when cleaners are sprayed directly on the keypad; when boiling is done on the stovetop without the hood vent fan being on; when the hood vent filter is clogged; or due to restricted airflow in exhaust. The best way to check the airflow is to turn the hood vent fan on and use your hand to feel at the exhaust outlet outside the home. Moisture can cause the keypad or control board to short to some degreee, and produce odd results. It may clear up, but sometimes it requires that the keypad be replaced or that the board be professionaly cleaned. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk We also repair microwave control boards for customers nationwide for $39.95.
