"I have a GE Side by side frig GE22JFREWW that will not cool. The lights come on and the fans are running but the cooling element does not get cold. No clicking can be heard on the motherboard. Where shoud I look next?"
Check the compressor to make sure it is running. If not then check to make sure you are getting the proper electrical supply to the compressor.
The compressor seems to be working. Slight vibration felt. Temp on the two tubes are about the same temp which are ambient (its cold in the garage where I am working on it.)
If the compressor is running and both lines (tubes) are the same temperature it seems there is not freon being pumped by the compressor. This could be because there is no freon in the system or the compressor has failed. Sounds like you need to find someone with a way of checking pressures on the system.
How would I check to see if it is compressor failure. If it is a freon issue, it is not going to be worth me going any further to fix it.
Typically if the compressor is pumping and there is any freon, one of the lines from the compressor will be very hot, the other cold. It's hard to diagnose without the proper tools.

SOURCE: my frig is running but not cooling - frig is 50
I can help you diagnose the problems with your GE. Several things can cause these symptoms. All you need is a voltage meter patience and a want to, to repair and do it better than a paid technician. In most cases with the PSS26MSRSS the defrost heater is the cause for this. Look into rear of your freezer and back wall. Is Ice or frost building on rear wall? If yes unplug and prepair to remove contents in freezer compartment. Remove rear panel in freezer and use hair dryer to defrost ice until the defrost heater is visible. BRB , Sea Breeze
Testimonial: "Thanks for the quick help - yes frost on back wall. Once I unload and defrost should I then take out defrost thermostat? "

I got back to my project today and noticed that the compressor is no longer running. Both fans are still running. I am not sure how to check the voltage. There are three wires going into the compressor Orange, Black, White. There is a small black box to the left of the compressor that is not directly connected other than the orange wire. I checked the two leads and there is no continuity. I checked both sides of the input and exit wires and get no voltage reading. ?? Bad Compressor? Bad Mother Board, Bad Relay???
You might check to make sure it did not trip the breaker in the house panel. Sometimes when a compressor shorts out that will happen. There is a possibility the safety limit has failed completely, this will kill power completely too.
I think that I have it narrowed down to the Start relay. The contacts look burnt inside the box. Or the start capacitor. I may just order them and see what happens
I replace with a three in one. The compressor started vibrating but no temperature change. Both tubes coming out of the compressor are about the same temp.
Did the compressor run for a long time? Did it shut off again?
I let the frig run for at least an hour with no notable changes, compressor still running but no change in temps noted on compressor, tubing, or freezer.
If the valves are bad in the compressor it will not pump and you will not be creating any heat on the lines. There is a possibility you may not have any freon also. The only way to know is to install a piercing valve and see if there is pressure in the system.
