'99 ford escort radio changes modes then turns off

Recently, the radio has been difficult to adjust. Equalizing and alike. the controls don't stay where you pit them. I have to work with them for a while to get a good balance. Finally, they stay adjusted. Now, the radio won't stay on, the CD changes to tape and then the radio turns off by itself. What's up with that?

Its my belief that stereos in vehicles can become corrupted by maleware code. Do you play mp3, ipod, or burned cds in the stereo. I broke my factory stereo when I played a burned cd once. The market is ripe for virus and maleware protection for your car stereo so don't be surprised if you see virus protection and their virus creating friends on the scene soon. "Try reseting the stereo". You can also try to pull the ground to the car battery for 2 minutes but you will have to let the car idle for 10 minutes after you reconnect the post to set the idle correctly and let the car essentially reboot. Also jump starting a vehicle could cause malfunctions in the stereo if not breaking the electronics inside, very likely in the colder climates.

How do I fix the clutch on a 1997 Ford escort

It depends on what is wrong with the clutch. Is it slipping, juddering or making gear selection difficult?

Not all Ford Escorts have self-adjusting clutches; some are manually adjusted and need attention from time-to-time and proper engagement can be prevented if the pedal has risen too high.

Even the automatic adjuster can cause problems sometimes as can the clutch cable.
Before starting the big job of dismantling the suspension and removing the gearbox it is as well to check what can be checked and be sure lots of work is really needed.

Putting an oil pump on my 1997 ford escort and everything has lined up and are tight in the places they are supposed to but there is a gap at the bottom of oil pump that was not there what can i do to get...

As you know there should be no gap. Are you sure you got the right oil pump. Alot of pumps like alike, but have small differences that don't let them fit on other engines.

98 Ford Escort, Emergency brake doesn't hold car. Rear brakes okay, adjusted cable to 3 clicks. What am I looking for?

If you have rear rotors that look like a rotor mounted on top of a drum brake, you will have an emergency brake inside the drum portion. The rear brake rotors are not flat like the front rotors for this style.

The E brakes have brake shoes and they have "Star" wheels for adjustment just like the regular drum brake. You really need to take off the rear rotors to inspect the inner drum portion. If you do adjust the E brakes without looking at the drum part, chances are the drum is pitted and rusty and you will be lucky to stop once before the E brake linings are ground off.

The other type of E brake works off the Rotor pads. You will see the brake cable attached to a lever on each wheel. There will be an Equalizing cable connecting both rear wheels with an adjustment point joining the main cable. Although the 3 clicks moves the main cable, to have both rear brakes equally tight you need the Equalizing properly adjusted.

Those are the things you need to look for.

Changed timing belt on my 99 ford escort zx2 car no

if you have a no spark scenario i would check your crank sensor located at the top left side of the harmonic balance pulley.the crankshaft (about 11'oclock) a 2 wire plug with a sensor on it check to see if it is damaged or unsecured. this sensor can cause no spark if not working correctly. This sensor is based of frequency not voltage testing is difficult, just make sure that there isnt too muck air gap. and that it is secured.Lastly may want to check timing possible that the belt has jumped some teeth and she has fallen out of timing. maybe a bad tensioner The coil will adapt i think up to 10 degree, ****** or advance. Good luck

My blower control stays in defrost mode even while turned to dash or leg vent. I recently changed my plugs but I don,t see any loose wires or vacuum hoses that might effect this. Could I have done...

I'll bet when you changed the spark plugs, one of the small vacuum hoses got disconnected or cracked.look the small plastic hoses(1/8)size on the right side, near the firewall, bending them lightly.
