It appears that you have a bad thermocouple. This senses the heat and should allow the gas valve to stay open after the flame has been lit for approximately 30 seconds. By pushing the button you are manually opening the valve. Check to make sure the thermocouple is resting in the flame and is getting the proper heat.
Testimonial: "Thank you working well now. Also had to tighten small pipe leading into the brass sensor.thanks again."

The part you are looking for is the thermo couple. It senses the heat from the flame and holds the gas valve open. The clicking will try three times and then go into lock out. You then will need to reset on the front of the fridge. When installing the thermo couple do not over tighten.

A bit more info is needed. What model #, and how old is it? In back, does it have a computer board (underneath a green or black plastic cover, appros 4" x 6")? Im guessing that it does, ('cause you get an error message,) Make sure that you have a good 12 volts going to the board at all times, and make sure that the glass fuses on the board are not blown. If that checks out, than its a real good bet the you have a defective board. For Americana models, you're going to need a Dometic board, and for other models, an aftermarket board will usually do. Althoiugh the OEM ones have a better chance of fixing your problem.

Check to see if you have a switch for storage, on, off etc. usually between doors, or near top right corner of fridge compartment. It may be in wrong position.
