The GE (actually RCA) 32GT740 uses the CTC203 series chassis. The most common problem in that chassis is a coil connected to the base of the horizontal output transistor comes loose, and the set may run sometimes and then it will shut off by itself. If you keep trying to run the set with the solder joints cracked on that coil then the horizontal output transistor will short out and the power supply will squeel when plugged in. Do not plug the set in if it squeels as this could eventually cause major problems in the power supply. The set needs a new horizontal output transistor and a good resoldering of the drive coil, drive transformer and all related parts. If you do not have experience in unsoldering and soldering electronic components in TV's then have a qualified tech handle it for you.

32GT740 on pwr up clicks three times then shuts down

Most likely you have a bad flyback transformer. These were famous for this. Transformer is getting hard to find. This is a high voltage circuit. Have a shop check it for you. Thanks for using fixya.

Help

Hi there!
May be a power supply fault, Line stage, loose solder points or regulation( 5V to the CPU) to trigger switch on. If not familiar with electronics, please refer to a repair technician. Regards, JUS004

Clicking off and on sound

The power supply is in the protect mode. There is probably a short in one of the areas on the circuit boards. It is also very likely that there is a scan failure. The set would have to be properly troubleshooted to determine that exact failure.

TV turns itself off after a few seconds, no picture at all

Sounds like the typical Flyback and shorted horizontal output transistor. Problem is the transformer is NO Longer Available
