You should have a "lever: you push down to cook and it will "pop" up when the rice is finshed, your cooker holds 6 Cups cooked rice, use 2 cups medium grain rice/ 3 cups water this should yeild you 6 cups of cooked rice, let sit about 4 min after the lever pops up to allow rice to finish steaming

My son lost his manual (and measuring cup) while away at school. I was able to print it at the following site: http://kitchen.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/rival_1/rc61.html . All I did was to click on "Get this Manual" and then do an extremely simple registration. After registration, click again on "Get this Manual". It was all there!

I ran into the same problem locating this manual. Black and Decker has the manual for the 3 cup on their site but not the 6 cup. I did find a manual for the Rival brand version which appears to be the same thing. You can find it at the URL

SOURCE: Rival RCS200 problem

Try this:

  • Before cooking, rinse rice in warm water until water becomes clear. Then place the rice in the inner pot with fresh water.
  • Take care to use proper water to rice ratios.
  • Use a 1:1 ratio of rice to water plus ½ cup of water for white rice and a 1:1 ratio plus ¾ cup of water for brown rice.
P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.
If it hasn’t, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

I lost the instruction manual for my Rival 6 cup rice steamer. I need the ratio of water to rice.

Welcome to FixYa. My name is Max and I'm the expert who chose your situation to fix. If you find my solution satisfactory, please award me a "FixYa" rating. Now for your question.

All of the rice cooker makers advise: a 2:1 ratio That is, 2 cups of water for every cup of rice.

Thanks again for using FixYa!

Overboiling

On this rice cooker to make a perfect pot without overboiling....Use 2 cups of rice and 4 cups of water, When it starts to boil life the lid ONCE and stir and then put the lid back on pressing down to make a seal, The water should not boil over if you follow these instructions, I just made a pot :).....Oh and use the same measuring cup for the rice and the water, Just remeber....One cup of rice = two cups of water!

No instrution manual

You are an *******....Just to be blunt....This person is asking how to cook the rice to water ration in the rival 6 cup rice cooker and that ratio is like other ways to cook rice, which you are completely wrong about maybe you should take some lessons on how to cook. Its 1 PART RICE TO 2 PARTS WATER....NOT EQUAL, and in the cooker its 2 cups rice and 4 cups water makes a perfect pot!
