Horizontal purple and fuschia lines, buzzing sound (feedback?)

I bought a 42" Hitachi Plasma HDTV in 2003/2004. Moved the tv in a cardboard box from an LCD TV, carefully, to my new place 6 months ago and had it professionally installed onto the wall. Worked fine until recently when horizontal purple and bright pink lines rolls from bottom to top of the screen. Can't locate the model # or original receipt to advise the Hitachi repair sub-contractor.

The sound is distorted by a buzzing sound - could it be feedback? The longer the tv stays on, the louder the buzzing sound, making it difficult to hear any program. I've changed the original factory settings: "dynamic" produces hot temps.

The cable company has replaced the HDTV box 4 times. They said it's not the cable feed causing the problem - said it could be the electricity is not properly grounded. I live in a 1930's building with 3 prong outlets, 110 volt, tv is plugged into a surge protector, then into 3 prong outlet. Is it the tv and can it re-occur again, causing me to spend more money in the near future? I need your HELP!

SOURCE: Buzzing sound and lines, no picture or sound

first of all check your connecting wires see if they are not broken inside.or try some new wires.if that does not solve your problem then you have to start looking at the tv as defective, therefore,it ca be either of these problems 1 defective tuner associated with vertical problem. 2 faulty IF-AGC section solution ajdust IF-AGC verify active components leaking, open,or shorted IF transistor or IC REPLACE either.one more thing give it some slight tap on the case if it resume operation you have lose solder then the circuit needs to resolder.if it remains the same considering the above take it to a tech.good luck.

In the video setting go down to reset. You will only need minor adjustment after a reset.

SOURCE: Hitachi 42" plasma TV (42PD6600)

My plasma TV seems to have problems with picture immediately after turning on. At about two weeks ago, the TV lost picture after turning on the TV. It was corrected by disconnecting power then reconnecting. A switch on rear left hand side would click bringing picture ON, somehow this clicking seems to have problems being energized lately not allowing picture to come on the TV. Checked power cable and was getting 120 Volts to TV, nonetheless problem has gotten worst and TV does not show a picture? Your thoughts on my problem?

SOURCE: Floating Horizontal Line

Sounds like a bad component on the video board. These days, TV techs just swap out boards for whole new ones.

I have a 42 inch Hitachi plasma tv that is making a very loud static noice coming from the internal speakers. It stays at a contstant very loud volume unless I completly mute the tv or turn the volum

Based on what you have tried if a buzz or loud static via the speakers you have something wrong in the audio output circuit of the set--problem here is that circuit may be part of the Main board that processes all signal---a look inside---following the speaker leads back would lead you to that board.

A simple thing to do to narrow it a little (you may have done this) is with sound all the way off put your ear to the internal speaker--hear anything at all like a deep hum?

Depending on age of set and cost of the board likely bad it may or may not be a do it yourself repair.

Hi can u hep? i connect my hdtv connector from my x box to a hitachi plasma 42 " tv which also acts as the pc port, but get no sound?

make sure that the connection you are using is providing audio to the tv. If it is VGA, or DVI, those cables do not carry audio, only video.

My husband moved the tv from one table to another, and now the color is all screwed up. Mostly purple and green. What's the problem? It's an Hitachi 42" plasma tv.

Usually this is caused by unproperly hooked up component video cables. Check the green, blue and red component video cables on the tv and on the device (cablebox) to hopefully solve the issue. Sometimes one just pulls loose also

Verticle lines on screen

This is a very easy fix. Your cable box is not grounded correctly. To fix this you need a AC Plug adapter. This will change your TV ac plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire. This may sound funny, but trust me on this. I have fix a lot of TV in NY doing just this.24001fc.jpg

Horizontal line or seam going from bottom to top of screen

Sounds like you have AC leakage somewhere. If you have cable TV, disconnect it from the TV and see if the line dissapears. If it does then most likely it is a faulty cable box or a bad ground on the cable system.
