I bought a 42" Hitachi Plasma HDTV in 2003/2004. Moved the tv in a cardboard box from an LCD TV, carefully, to my new place 6 months ago and had it professionally installed onto the wall. Worked fine until recently when horizontal purple and bright pink lines rolls from bottom to top of the screen. Can't locate the model # or original receipt to advise the Hitachi repair sub-contractor.
The sound is distorted by a buzzing sound - could it be feedback? The longer the tv stays on, the louder the buzzing sound, making it difficult to hear any program. I've changed the original factory settings: "dynamic" produces hot temps.
The cable company has replaced the HDTV box 4 times. They said it's not the cable feed causing the problem - said it could be the electricity is not properly grounded. I live in a 1930's building with 3 prong outlets, 110 volt, tv is plugged into a surge protector, then into 3 prong outlet. Is it the tv and can it re-occur again, causing me to spend more money in the near future? I need your HELP!

first of all check your connecting wires see if they are not broken inside.or try some new wires.if that does not solve your problem then you have to start looking at the tv as defective, therefore,it ca be either of these problems 1 defective tuner associated with vertical problem. 2 faulty IF-AGC section solution ajdust IF-AGC verify active components leaking, open,or shorted IF transistor or IC REPLACE either.one more thing give it some slight tap on the case if it resume operation you have lose solder then the circuit needs to resolder.if it remains the same considering the above take it to a tech.good luck.

In the video setting go down to reset. You will only need minor adjustment after a reset.

My plasma TV seems to have problems with picture immediately after turning on. At about two weeks ago, the TV lost picture after turning on the TV. It was corrected by disconnecting power then reconnecting. A switch on rear left hand side would click bringing picture ON, somehow this clicking seems to have problems being energized lately not allowing picture to come on the TV. Checked power cable and was getting 120 Volts to TV, nonetheless problem has gotten worst and TV does not show a picture? Your thoughts on my problem?

Sounds like a bad component on the video board. These days, TV techs just swap out boards for whole new ones.
