The temperature sensor located on the that element is failing. the sensor red light reminds you that the burner area is still hot. The light should go out once the glass top has cooled, but the failing sensor won't allow it. A slight rap with your hand on glass top over that burner once cool will put the light out. It more than likely continue until the unit is replaced.

Your radiant heat element is probably blown. Call kitchenaid for information and replacement part numbers then search online for a good price.

Whirlpool schott ceran induction plate doesn't get hot

magnetic gradeI have a SCHOTT Ceran glass ceramic cooktop as well, and soon realized that induction cooktops like this require that your metal cookware be in contact with the surface for them to heat up. Best cookware:
  • Cast iron pans
  • Any black metal pans
  • Stainless steel pans, if base is magnetic grade (magnet sticks to bottom)

Cooktop won't ignite

-Possibly bad connect between igniter's main line to power.
-Check it out and replace. Make sure the gas line is shut off completely before work on and test.
Good luck and enjoy

Cooktop short circuits the electrical fuse when plugged in

Try removing parts or connections until the fuse does not blow.

With a gas hob, you are limited to a short in the ignition system.

As the igniter has failed try removing it. This should solve the fuse problem, if it doesn't, look for a short in the wiring.

My miele induction schott ceran is being locked, and I can not open it to cook??

Hi,

If you have an illuminated red key symbol on the cooktop, press down where the illuminated red key is, for about 5 seconds. This method works on many Schott Ceran / Miele cooktops including the KM443 listed above.

If this doesn't work, please let me know the correct model number.

Hope this helps.

Miele gas cooktop flame shuts off after lighting. If I keep the button down longer to allow more gas to flow to the burner it will stay on.

I had similar problem.Solved by Miele tech by placing rice grain sized wad of paper towel inside knob so it sits slightly higher on the valve shaft.
