Not all songs are showing up

It probably has some incompatible formats, or else they would show up.

Firstly, a quick search on the manufacturer's Website throws up this: http://http.vitalstreamcdn.com/cobyelectronics_vitalstream_com/manuals/MPC848_MN.pdf the Manual in PDF format.
Secondly, to delete files: Plug the Player into your computer. It should show up as a USB external drive. Open said drive. Select files and delete. Simple, and this works with most portable media players.

Does not show songs that were previously synced

Hi,
1. Make sure you Windows Media Player 11 (Goto Help --> About WMP --> v??) 2. If you do not have it, install it from this location: http://www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer  3. Change the Mode on Device: Go into Menu --> Settings --> USB Mode:Auto Detect/MTP/MSC  4. Select MSC and it should work. If it does not try Powercycling your device (turn it off and then turn it on). 5. Try other modes as well.

Switch the player from USB to either Auto or MTP mode. Or, you can transfer ALL songs in the manner you have just described. Either way.

Philips GoGear: delete music from library & are there any Unicode

Here's the deal:
Open the Philips Device Manager that came with the install cd, and do a Repair - this will erase everything so you can start over from scratch. This will also take care of your squares issue.

No dice on the playlist issue - sorry.

Next, you have to disable the auto sync feature in Windows Media Player to prevent it from auto-loading all of those songs/files that you don't want. by opening Windows Media Player, highlighting the Sync tab, clicking on the little black arrow to bring down the drop-down menu, clicking on "Set Up Sync" (make sure your mp3 player is connected to computer, or this option will not appear), and unchecking the box that says "automatically sync files to my device". This will give you manual sync instead.
