3 years ago I bought a Hotpoint side by side (HSS25GFPA-the warranty expired 5 months ago). The fridge has completely stopped cooling. A few months ago the freezer would start to defrost and then refreeze. Any idea where I can start? Circuit Board, evaporation system?

My new years gift was for my Hotpoint HSS25IFMD to stop cooling.
Lack of any cooling is typically a bad compressor. This model refrigerator was made in 2002. Seems like the compressors are designed to fail within a year or two after the warranty expires.
Good day, After that much time, be sure the fan motor in the freezer compartment is running, as well as the fan motor on the back bottom behind the cover by the compressor. Either could well have frozen up after 4 years of storage. As well a refrigerant leak could have developed because of the time frame. However, if it is less then 5 years old, the sealed system would still be under factory warranty.
Good day, I don't understand your caption..........
Fan cool fridge working 3years bought new 2days ago...
However, it sounds as if the compressor is trying to start and cannot.
If the machine is under 5 years of age, the compressor is under factory warranty.
There is a relay, capacitor, and overload which are connected to the side of the compressor after removing the back bottom rear cover.
These items could be removed and taken to an appliance parts house, where they would be glad to test them for you. Replace failed parts.
However, if it is under 5 years of age, I would recommend you call for factory warranty service. They may have to charge you for one of these parts, but since it could be a failed compressor, and not the starting components it is better to let them service it and maintain the balance of your compressor warranty.
your defrost heater or timer is not working . rotate you defrost timer until it clicks and check if its is defrosting if it is let it defrost for about 10 mins and turn the timer some more to take it out of defrost. replace timer
If the freezer is packed to the top and the air ducts are blocked it
can not share the cold air with the refrigerator and it gets warm. If
this is the problem, then the next day it should get cool again! let me
know. If you decide you need service!

BURY IT, NO ONLY JOKING, YOU DO HAVE A DEFROST FAULT, SAMSUNG ARE RENOWNED FOR THESE FAULTS, REMOVE THE BACK AND CHECK THE FOLLOWING, YOU WILL HAVE A DEFROST SENSOR, USUALLY TWO YELLOW WIRES WITH A WHITE BULD ON THE END, PUT A MULTIMETER ACROSS THE END OF THE WIRESES AND HOLD THE WHITE END IN YOUR HAND TIGHT, YOU SHOULD SEE THE RESTANCE CHANGING, IF NOT IT IS FAULTY, TO THE RIGHT OF THE EVAPORATOR YOU WILL SEE BLACK AND RED WIRES CHECK YOU HAVE A CIRCUIT THROUGH THIS ITEM, IT IS A THRMAL FUSE, IF THAT IS OK THEN METER OUT THE TWO HEATERS, IF THEY ARE OK THEN YOU HAVE A POWER MODUE FAULT.
