Turn the unit over. You'll see two arrows marked "1" and "2". Put a fingernail into the gap between the two ridges of "1" and move in the direction indicated by the arrow. While keeping it there, put another fingernail into the slot of "2" and pull in the direction of the arrow.

The procedure almost requires three hands. but it can be done with two if you put the remote down on a tabletop.

I can't get my older garage door remotes to program with the new unit.Do I have to buy new remotes?

SORRY TO SAY.THE ANSWER IS YES.
THE NEW OPENERS ARE NOT ON THE SAME FREQUENCY.

YOU CAN PURCHASE REMOTES THAT WILL WORK WITH BOTH OLD AND NEW OPENERS (DUAL FREQUENCY).
BUT, OLD REMOTES WILL NOT WORK WITH THE NEW OPENERS.

FOR GENIE GARAGE DOOR OPENER ICA SERIES WITH INTELLICODE REMOTE CONTROL SERIES II ELECTRONICS. PROGRAMED REMOTE FOR NEIGHBORS DOOR, WHRN NO LONGER NEEDED THE ACCESS I RE-PROGRAMED TO MY DOOR. NOW BOTH...

First you want to clear both Garage Door Openers. To clear the openers you need to locate the learn code button. This button is (usually) under the white lens cover just push it and hold it in until the red light stops flashing then do the same thing to your other opener. This clears out all remote controls that are programmed to these openers. Try the remote to make sure the units were properly cleared. Neither opener should activate if this was done correctly. After units are properly cleared push the learn code button on the opener that you want this remote to open. The learn code led will flash, then press the button on the remote once (learn code goes solid), press the remote a second time ( learn code goes out). Press the remote a 3rd time and opener should activate.

My opener opens both garage door I only want it to open one

You will need to erase both openers out and recode.

Press the learn button on the motor head until the led light goes out on it. Wait for 2 minutes. ----- Press and release the learn button and then press the button on the remote 3 times and try. Genie openers sometimes take multiple times doing this to code in for some reason. For multiple remotes repeat from -----. For the other opener do the same thing but with a different button on the remote, unless you have a 1 button remote then use different remotes for the 2 doors. Thanks BB

Remote control unit does not open the door. we

Hi,
You can try reprogramming the remotes to the opener that is not working. Sometimes they get a brain freeze and drop the codes and reprogramming can fix it. Next to where the wire hangs down will be a colored square button (the learn button) press once and release, you have 30 seconds to try and program a remote, you don't need to do all in the 30 seconds. Press and hold the button on your remote that you want to use until you see the light on the opener blink or hear a click sound from opener, let go of the button. it should now be programmed. If you can't get any of them to work then the logic board is bad. This repair can cost as much as a new opener + install. Sears sells a "remote control conversion kit" it comes with 1 remote and a plug in receiver you attach to your existing opener. 2 wires come off it and hooks up where your wall control hooks up at the openr. It's pretty easy to install. FYI the remote controls are color coordinated meaning the buttons on the remotes have to be the same color or they won't work, so if existing remotes are not the same color as the one in the kit they will most likely have to be replaced. good luck!

My Craftsman remote won't close my garage door

If the remote opens and closes while inside the garage but not outside , there are a few things it could be. Assuming it was working fine before..
1. weak battery in remote.
2. remote itself could be bad. (unless you have more than 1 remote acting the same)
3. Logic board in opener is going bad causing limited range. Is the wire that hangs down from the opener straightened out? That is your remote antenna. Some people have coiled or even cut it off..reducing range.
4. Less likely but this can happen- interference from another electronic device, wireless routers, cell phone, new appliances etc.. can reduce remote range. Any new electronics recently purchased?

Intermittent remote trouble

Your wall control is hard wired and doesn't use the receiver portion of the logic board. The remotes do. Your receiver is going bad.

Garage door is opening when the neighbor open theirs with remot

You say you "setup the remote and the main box but doesn't solve." I think you mean you programmed the unit but I'm not sure. Anyway try holding the smart/learn button in for 10 seconds and this will erase the memory. None of the remotes should work. Now when you are sure the neighbor will not be using their opener, program your remotes. This may be what you did but I'm not sure.

Door opener remotes not opening garage door.

You have to sync the remotes to the new code. For older remotes, you can open the remote and match the pin settings.

For newer remotes there's a button that you push in the back of the opener that sets in program mode (for Chamberlain). When you push the remote button, it will acknowledge the remote is programmed.

If this doesn't help, comment back on your particular model and we'll help you with the solution.
