The drain on the outdoor unit freezes and ice builds up in the drain pan.I removed the ice and check to make sure the unit was level so it would drain properly but the problem comes back after a few days. The ice seems to put pressure on the coils and make the system vibrate. It gets very noisy and sounds like a big truck is idling in the yard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
There is a temp. probe on the inside unit.(evaporator). If you open the front panel you should see 2 white air filters. With the right side one removed you should see a black probe on the coil. Possibly that probe needs replacement. Very possible there is also a defrost sensor connected to the outside condensing unit. That sensor is connected via a white plug in connector.. Replace that one too if possible.
