Mini split drain trouble

Make sure the indoor filters are clean. The outside unit will continue to run until the indoor reaches the temperature you have selected. Dirty filters can throw the temperature out. Its common for outdoor units to freeze up when on heating mode if the ambient air temperature is below 5 degrees Celcius.. The machine should however, defrost itself. There could be a problem with one of the pipe or air sensors on the outdoor unit.

One check your indoor fan is correctly running ( blowing a good quantity of air. Two look for oily residue around flare connectors indoor and outdoor usually indoor first. This indicates a leak. Thus why the ice . Good luck

Hi this problem could arise due to various reasons so lets find out what could it be the cause.

1)In the back of your freezer compartment is the drain hole. It's very common in GE for the drain to freeze up. With the drain hole plugged up, your freezer will continue to defrost the evaporator, but not the water in the drain hole. So the water builds and freezes, builds and freezes until it eventually overflows into the air diffuser for the fridge causing the leaky fridge problem."Heat Probe" that can be installed.This will prevent water from freezing up in the drain hole allowing it to drain as designed

2)Inspect the door seals and the sides of the refrigerator around the doors. If you see any beads of water or moisture, then the door seals may be failing to create an air tight seal which causes the cold air from the refrigerator to escape and form condensation around the doors. Sometimes you can solve this problem by applying a light film of gasket lubricant to the existing seals or just cleaning them of any debris with a warm soapy rag. If they still don't seal well after you apply lubricant, or clean them, you may need to replace the entire seal assembly.

3) If the water is coming from the freezer but you think that the defrost drain pipe is clear, then it may be coming from the ice maker. Check the ice maker for cracks in the unit's body or a misalignment of the water supply line. Make sure that the water supply spout in the freezer lines up with the ice maker's water supply cup.

4)Check the ice maker copper water supply line, your ice maker water filter, and the plastic ice maker water supply tube for any cracks, splits or connection leaks. If you find any leaks, remove the leaking part and obtain a replacement at the hardware store.

5)Your leaking refrigerator may just have a cracked or damaged drain pan. Your fridge regularly drains water into this pan to prevent water pooling in the fridge itself. Evaporation takes care of the rest. Look underneath your fridge where the drain pan sits and pull it out for inspection. If it has a crack or is otherwise damaged, contact the appropriate retailer about getting a replacement as soon as possible.

6)If your leaking refrigerator is draining inside as opposed to onto your floor, you're probably dealing with a clogged defrost drain. Your fridge is constantly producing condensation inside the freezer, and that condensation drips down the defrost drain into a drain pan underneath the unit. This defrost drain can become clogged with debris or, more often, it freezes shut. Look in your refrigerator manual to locate your defrost drain, and take the appropriate steps to unclog it (inundating your drain with warm water will often do the trick).

Note:Switch you Refrigerators for more than 8 hours and let the frost melt fully use hair dryer and now switch on and check you are getting leak.

Ice build up on the freezer floor alone, with no ice on shelves or food above the floor, usually indicates a clogged defrost drain problem. when your unit goes into defrost, the melt water is intended to go down a drain tube from the freezer to a pan on the outside bottom of the unit, usually near the compressor. Sometimes these drains are clogged with food debris, other times some of the melt water does not completely drain, and freezes - this build up of ice can then clog the drain. You can unplug the fridge, with both doors open and a fan blowing for 24 hours to temporarily remove the ice and water, but it will return most likely, in which case you would need to have the drain cleared out and / or have a drain heater installed by a qualified refrigerator repair service.

i would check the blades on the condenser fan motor and make sure they are not hitting anything if they are not, spin the fan see if the fan spin freely, it should, if it doesn't it could be the bearing in the motor are dry and going bad

Self-defrosting refrigerators dispose of the water generated during the defrost cycle, usually via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally evaporates. .

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.You can use a hair dryer and remove the ice buildup

You will need to let the indoor fan run for several hours to defrost the indoor coil. it may take 12 hours to defrost you'll know when it's clear when the vents are blowing like usual again. Then run the unit for 5 minuits and check the large copper insulated line going to the outdoor unit. is it cold? if not you need a refrigerant charge. If it is then make sure never to run the unit below 70 degrees and check your air fliter and return duct for blockage of possible collapse. Also you may have a dirty indoor coil chac that and clean the outdoor one as well.

Remove the panel in back of the freezer compartment and clean your defrost drain. It is plugged and overflowing when it goes into defrost. You will see it when you remove the panel. It is probably frozen over so take the ice out of it then run a flexable wire down into the line (nothing to hard or you may pierce or pop the line off) to clean out the drain hose also. Then pour some water into the drain trough (about a cup) making sure it flows freely out. Then remove the front grill (sometimes called a kick panel) at the bottom front of the unit and pull your defrost pan out and check if it has water in it. That will solve your problem.

Skap, the question is whether the evaporator coils are completely frosted up or just the top section. Frigidaire has had a lot of issues with restrictions which would cause just freezing on the top half. I will attach some pictures. Your unit has an adaptive defrost. I believe that you can advance it into defrost by pressing the light switch 5 or 6 times. If you pull the bottom grill, there should be a tech sheet with the instructions behind it. Usually when this adaptive defrost unit fails, you will not have a freezer fan, for it runs through this adaptive defrost board. Your heaters are calrod and usually do not fail. They can become unplugged due to ice build-up. You can check to see if you have 120V getting to them after putting the unit into defrost. If not, check the defrost thermostat (bi-metal). If it's bulged, it's usually a bad sign. Defrost the unit with a hair dryer while unplugged. You have to remove the back freezer panel to get at the bi-metal, defrost the unit and check the drain pan.
