The rear panel nameplate will state the unit power requirements. Look for number of amps draw. Let's say you read "2 A". Now, depending on where in the circuit this fuse is, your fuse size will be no more than two amperes (sometimes slightly greater if slow-blow fuse spec'ed). So, if your fuse is located immediately near the line-cord entrance to circuit board, start with a 1.0A fuse. If that immediately blows, then increase to a 1.5A fuse. Repeat until 2 A fuse is reached. If still blowing, then there is a problem with the set, either power supply or tube.

Check the main fuse on the power supply regualtor board of your tV. If found opened, check and find out the reason for failure to present fuse, before put an other in place.

My toshiba tv 32kc500b is not starting at all with remote or without remote

KV suggests it is a Sony and not a Toshiba?

general answer:

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have tobuy and try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.

T V will not turn on, with the remote or manual...

Make sure there is power at the outlet, check external fuses such as plug fuse, then DISCONNECT remove back panel and check for blown fuse inside the set. If you find a blown fuse replace with same type and see if it blows when you switch it on. If it does you have a power supply or scan board fault and an engineer will need to diagnose.Sometimes fuses just fail due to fatigue if you are lucky.
DO NOT TOUCH WHEN CONNECTED TO THE MAINS, , in fact take care even when disconnected as you can sill get a shock from charged components.
THERE IS VERY HIGH VOLTAGE IN THESE SETS, 25KVolts for the tube so take care.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

No Power Problem with KV-27s15 Sony TV

Barry, remove the back cover by removing the screws with an arrow next to them. The fuse is located on the left side as viewed from the back, where the power cord connects to the circuit board.

TV WONT TURN ON

I fixed it myself. I found that the t6.3 amp/250v fuse had blown. I bought the fuse at a television parts supplier for $2.00 put it in and it worked.Hooray! It has been working just fine now.

Sony Triniton Fuse Blows

You will have to trouble shoot the board down to the component level I'm afraid. I would for sure pull out the transistors or the FETs to get a good reading on the parts.

Dead from cable surge from blown Time Warner splitter.

On that Sony the only glass fuse would be on the primary side where the A.C. cord enters the TV. If it's blown then you have a bad rectifier diode or some other shorted power supply component.
