If you connect the computer directly to the modem , it shopuld work. If your computer is online when connected only to the modem then the problem must be router settings . you will need to check the settings manually. Click Here for step by step solution
BSNLGPRS supports HTC windows based Mobile
Here is the Procedure to acessGPRS in your HTC
Go to Start- Settings > Connections >Connection >(Under internet settings select)Add a new modem connection
Enter a name for the connection:BSNL (you can type any name as you like) A modem(from the drop down list select)Cellular Name(GPRS)
(On the bottom of your screen select):Next
Access Point Name(APN):gprswest.cellone.in (gprwest or south depending on your location
Press : Next User name: Leave it blank Password: Leave it blank Domain: Leave it blank
In the bottom line press: Finish
(Make the connection BSNL default indicated by this sign @)
Here setting is finished.
TO BROWSE INTERNET . . . . Method 1
Press Start Internet Explorer Enter url/site name which you want to browse. Method 2
Under internet settings click on Manage existing connection.On your screen BSNL
(the name you had given will be shown)with the Joystick/Stylus(the stick coming along with the handsets).Tap and hold on the name i.e.BSNL,two sub menu will be displayed i.e.Delete and
Connect,click on Connect.
Please Observe the symbol of “E”or G .In HTC a small E comes out of E.
Note:Always keep only one connection setting i.e.BSNL and use method 1 as it is simple.If you have only one connection directly start browsing by method 1 as and when you want to browse the internet.
hey i have fixed this problem on my phone (htc touch hd, telstra) and this is how i did it- go settings, connections, go advanced tab down bottom, click select networks, click new on the top bar under programs that auto..... enter in OptusInternet (exactly like this).... then click modem tab down bottom then click new..... enter in OptusInternet again and chance cellular line bar to cellular line (GPRS, 3G)... then click next and for access point name type in internet.............. click ok ok x and then load up internet explorer and it should work
However the current problem i am still facing is opera wont run..... explorer will but opera doesnt load. just sits there untill it comes up with error 104 blah blah blah- still working out how to fix this as i hate internet explorer and opera is way better (going to try downloading opera 9.5 beta again and see if that works)
After browsing a lot of sites and experimenting with the settings finally I was able to configure my HTC P3400i with Vodafone Live support without any help from the Vodafone customer care (who were very bad and rude when I called them for getting the setting). The settings is working fine for me in Bangalore. Hope this helps all who bought this phone and struggling for getting the GPRS setting for HTC P3400i.
Below is the step by step instruction: Step 1 Start->Settings->Connections->Tasks->Add a new modem connection:
Enter a name for the connection: <give any name>
Select a modem: Cellular Line(GPRS)
click next
Acess point name: portalnmms
User name: <blank> Password: <blank> Domain:* <blank>
Go to Advanced->TCP/IP select radio button "Use server-assigned IP address"
Go to Advanced->Servers select radio buttion "Use server-assigned address"
Step3: Start->Settings->Connections->Advanced In "Select which networks are automatically used"-> click the Select Networks Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: Select the Connection name which you configured in Step 1
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using: Select the Connection name which you configured in Step 1
Connection name::"Give any name" Moden:: select "Cellular line (gprs)" Select "Next" Access point name:: "portalnmms" select "Next" Username:: (blank) Password:: (blank) Domain:: (blank) Select "Finish"
Now Select "Setup/Edit my proxy server" below that "Add a new modem connection"
Select the two check boxes 1.) This network connects to the internet 2.) This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
Now you ll have proxy server box below that you will have "advanced" Select "advanced" Select "HTTP" --->> Server:: "10.10.1.100" port:: "9401" select "ok" Select "Wap" ---->> Server:: "10.10.1.100" port:: "9201" select "ok"
Give ok to all options.
Now select "start" select "internet explorer" and try it for the connection... When internet is connecting it ll show "Connecting to GPRS" You ll be getting "locating" and "opening" and the webpage
1. Download AcitveSync 4.5 and install.
2. Establish partnership and ensure you are able to successfully synchronize your calendar etc. with handset.
3. No addition software required for using htc as modem. You need to have GPRS setup properly. you should be able to connect to any internet site.
4. On your handset, go to start->Programs->Internet sharing->Connect. ensure that you have choosen the proper internet sharing option.
right clik my computer,go to properties,click on properties,click on hardware devices you will see the list of all the hardware components installed on your computer,check to see if your network adapter is installed,if not installed you will see a yellow balloon attached to the adapter icon,then try and install the device.if the device is installedbut you can't browse,i think that has to do with you internet configuration.try using the a unique computer name and the correct workgroup name,good luck.
