Well Netopia from eircom will sit on default username & password provided by eircom.
Only way you can use it with other provider is that you will need to update it with a new firmware from netopia's website !

Hi mwells960
Theres alot of differnet things i could ask you, but im going to assume you're jsut setting up a basic VPN. That means that somebody is telecommuting to work and wants to hit the server at work.
That means you have a static ip at work, and your at home workers has whatever, a internet connection lets say. Im thinking DSL with ATT since its a netopia 3347N.
If the netopia has a gui interface, you cant vpn thru it. Its not a VPN router. Its a residential router that you're trying to make do too much.
The sad news is, you can't upgrade it to an Enterprise having firmware router anymore, netopia use to offer that, but when Motorolla bought them out last year, they did away with that nice little feature. For true VPN'ing with a router, first, go get a VPN router to start with.
Most people accomplish what you are doing by putting the netopia in to bridegemode, and then putting a VPN router like a linksys behind it.

goto start,control panel,performance and maintainance,administrative tools,services.
Scroll down to bottom to WIRELESS ZERO CONFIG,double click and click start.
now exit and wait a minute and your limited or no connectivity should change to connected,

Hi to confirm that the issue is with the wireless router, try connecting the xbox directly to your cable modem or adsl modem or similar so that its directly connected to the net.
if you still receive the MTU warning, then check and see if that is adjustable on the xbox itself and if its not, then that setting is most likely in the ADSL modem and not on the router. you would have to connect to the Modem setup pages and look for MTU there, it probably is there.
let me know if you need further assistance.

I would contact Motorola at http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/2247w.html
They have a net chat option and an e-mail option that don't require you buy a contract. I did not see any way to access the downlevel firmware, but they should be told that their new firmware is causing issues.
I would do a complete factory reset before I did this and set up new configuration - just to be sure that it is not a cruft issue. By a lot of trouble, you mean having to try over and over again?
But this sounds like a technician issue and something that an owner needs to tell them about.
Testimonial: "thank you brasshopper, yes my a lot of trouble i do mean i try over and over again, i attempt to connect using my atheros wifi card, and no access. TY"
