I actually just need to clean and reposition but none of the answers explain how to actually get to the print head.
You need to remove the ADF, the lower scanner, the output tray, both side covers, the ink loader assembly. The rest gets fairly intricate, if you can provide your e-mail I will be happy to e-mail you the instructions with diagrams.
Hi, I have removed casing and pulled out in tray. I tried to pull out the ink block (?) on left side but seems to be blocked by two plastic nubs from part above. The printer has no value otherwise, so I thought I would give this a try. There is little to no movement to the print head and I cannot see what is keeping it from setting into place. I have replace enough parts so I can power up without sides, [email protected]. I really appreciate your help.
that would be "pulled out ink tray".

What you can try is going onto the Xerox.com site and loading what is call Jet Substitution it will change the ports being used.
That could help.
Load it to your laptop and then run. Sometimes helps.
Unfortunatly that is a very expensive print head.

Is there a specific code coming up? That can make it easier to pinpoint the exact problem.

Your print head is in ned of replacement.
If you have done all you have, not much more that can be done.
You can try running that eliminate stripes a few times, and also in that area try the Jet Substitution, and see if you can open new jets to bypass the blocked ones.
after that, your print head would need to be replaced.
Wish I had a better and cheaper answer.

That is a document feed or scanner fault. Often times it is simply that molex connector working loose. It is the connector mounted vertically next to the main power cord on the right rear side of the machine. That bottom screw can be dificult to tighten. What I would try first is to shut the machine off, unscrew and disconnect that conntecot totally then firmly slide it in and get both the top and bottom screwss tight. Like I said, the bottom thumb screw can be hard to tighten even with a screw driver because it is a pretty soft rubber the tighteners are made out of.
If that doesnt work. go to the back and disconnect the document feed to scanner cables and reconnect. Other than that, you pretty much have to replace the feeder/scaner assembly since very very few parts are spared for that .
