Hi guys. I had the same problem. My Sansa clip would not come on at all and when I connected it to my computer, an malfunction error came up.
I found the solution on another forum which suggested sliding and holding the power button for about 15 seconds. This should reset the player. Try to turn it on again. It should work! It worked for me and all my music remained. Goodluck!

i was listening to my sansa player and it just turned off. I cant get it to turn back on, not even connected to the computer. It's dead!
MY sansa SaysPlease free 30mb , and now it wont even turn on
Not the same, but Similar prob here... I tried to turn it on yesterday and it showed a song was playing. But there was no sound and I could not change the song OR turn it off or on. I plugged it into my laptop, and it showed and ERROR on PC screen, but did nothing to the clip. So I left it on all night (Like I had any choice!), to drain the battery and hopefully start over fresh. Well, I WAS able to charge it the next morning, but it still will not play songs, and the laptop says ERROR and media contains no content! What the heck??!! It has only been used a few times! What can I do??? And NO, idiot me, does NOT still have the paperwork for it! Eek!
