I would say try durecell or energizer batteries first because some models work better with name brand batteries and if that doesnt work then there may be something wrong with the machine and should you have to purchase another one do not buy that brand try omiron, theyre pretty good, i have a talking one which i brought from avon. good luck!

What is the range (Blood Pressure Reading) for an 83 year old man?

Diabetes, alcohol use, and other factors influence the danger of high blood pressure, and often a lower set of number is recommended based on research than is commonly stated.

Hypertension (defined as a blood pressure over 140/90 mm Hg) affects more than two out of three individuals over 75 years of age.

Your Doctor should prescribed blood pressure medication if indicated since they are aware of factors that you may not consider important, including weight, daily exercise, and existing heart conditions.

My blood Pressure reading on right arm is normal but reading on left arm is very low what is the cause of this and what treatment would you suggest

i don't know. if you feel your readings are true, visit your doctor or hospital promptly. don't delay.
i suspect you may not be having a proper compression fitting on the arm with the lower reading.
some **** stores here have a ' no charge ' machine at a bench, that lets you test your blood pressure. you might like to try that on both arms and record the numbers. many electronics retailers sell a wrist band [ about $20 ] that reads pressure and pulse.

MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS 145/90. I am 71. i AM OTHERWISE HEALTHY. SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT THIS

Rena: Normal blood pressure is a reading below 120/80. Your bottom number is a little too high. Here is where to start: decrease salt in your diet. Try to decrease stress (like taking a stress management class). Increase your daily exercise. Herbs that may help lower blood pressure include basil, cinnamin, flaxseed, garlic, ginger, hawthorn, celery seed, French lavendar, and cat's claw (but NOT the real cat!) :) Take your blood pressure at different times of the day and keep a record. Uncontrolld high blood pressure can lead to stroke by damaging and weakening your brain's blood vessels, causing them to narrow, rupture or leak. High blood pressure can also cause blood clots to form in the arteries leading to your brain, blocking blood flow and potentially causing a stroke. I used to work in a dialysis clinic and there were always plenty of men that did not control their blood pressure for many years and eventually wore out their kidneys. If you consistently stay above the recommended numbers, go see your doctor.

Blood pressure monitor readings too low, inaccurate

I have used Omron monitors for around 2 years now and I have not found any problem with it. The error may be because you went to the doctor, your blood pressure must have changed since there was a time gap. There is no need to get worried.

Blood pressure reading 150/76. Manual Blood pressure 130/72

A monitor using Hg is only a valid monitor reading. Most electronic devices produce approximate results and are mostly good for taking several readings daily and obtaining a mean daily BP. Device calibration appears to be not accessible to the the user. Also, depending on age & condition of your dad, sequential reading must take place after elapse of enough time for circulation to be at steady state in the arm again, or if you immediately after a measurement make another, even with the same monitor you will obtain a different result.
