I can't format my new micro sd card

When I try to format the new Samsung 8GB card I get an error message that only says "Format failed" That happened on both of my Samsung Alias phones. Looking at the card information shows no memory used and no memory available. I checked the card on my desktop computer and it is good. I need to get photos off these phones. Any suggestions?

The Samsung Alias works with microSD cards. Your 8GB card is actually a microSDHC card and will not work in devices not designed to work with them. You need to use a microSD card, 2GB or smaller.

SOURCE: the 2g kingston micro sd card fails to format in

I have the same problem to beginning with. The new 2GB SD Micro card/with adapter didn't work at all. It didn't see it by window explorer. Others older once did work properly. Make sure you update your SD card reader driver to the latest version. It should be work. My did after updated the card reader driver.

Or update your all in once card reader if you have one.

Good Luck

SOURCE: SD Micro card- Formatting

your micro SD card may be damaged in some small way, or the card reader is a defect in it, to see which one it is,
****TRY TO BUY ANOTHER SD card, your phone can support up to a 2 GB micro SD card, if it persists, then *********** board in the phone has a defect.

SOURCE: Some memory card files wont show on samsung U900

you will need to do some fault finding here to narrow down the problem.

First on your computer turn on show hidden files and show systems files. and still confirm that there are no extra files in any of the folders that are not showing up on the phone

then create a new folder and copy a single file to that folder and confirm if the phone sees that folder and the file. If it does, then copy a file that it previously could see into that folder.
If you can't see that file still, copy a non seeing file into the folder it can see.

See what I am getting at? you need to narrow things down. Let me know how the above goes, I will further help once you reply.

Camera won't read SDHC card, says card error when trying to format

If you look at the spec, it will only take an SD card, not an SDHC card. SD cards max out at 2GB.

After i insert my 1 gb sandisk micro sd card into my blackberry 8530, an error message comes up: "cannot access media card due to fatal errors" i have tried to install, repair, and format it...

It sounds like in your situation that you may have a bad card. If you cannot get your card to mount to your phone for storage, I would try to find access to a pc that has an SD card slot that you can try to format it that way. If the card still wont format, your looking at a defective card and will need to purchase a new one.

You can find Micro SD cards here for purchase.

I have a new 8gb Kodak SDHC and it says on my camera "Format not supported" How can I format this card?

From what I have read, the Samsung SC-X300L only supports memory cards up to 4gb. I also tried an 8gb card, with no luck.

I just bought a new memory card (8gb) for my digital camera (Samsung NV10) and when I inserted the memory card, I kept getting "Card Error". It said I should format the new memory card and I tried to...

The largest SD card you can use in your Samsung NV10 is 2GB. thats why once you insert the 8GB sd card its shows card error or need to fromat.

FYI. for every digital camera there's a compatible memory card and you can see from the box or manual and Its writen SD or SDHC.

8gb PNY micro sd card isn't recognized in my samsung Alias

If the phone failed to format the SD card, try to format it through your computer. Connect the phone through the USB port located at the back of the tower. You'll be prompted that the PC detected 2 USB drives, the phone and the SD card. You will see it by going to My Computer folder. From there, right click the Letter drive represents the SD drive then select Format. I hope this helps.

Problems with formating samsung e250 micro sd card

Did you try to format the card in the device thru Windows Media Player, or Rhapsody? If so, try formatting it thru My Computer instead. My Computer>Device Name>Right Click and select format. It is most likely NOT a virus if you have only put music on the device. It is most likely a corrupt file, or a database error. Best of Luck.
