I purchased a new viper 5701 2-way remote (the third one in 2 years due to the back continuing to break) and programmed it myself this time. The remote works now, but as a one way remote. It does not indicate the 'chirps' like my last two remotes. Is there a wat to re-program that part of the remote?
SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE ALARM IN SILENT MODE

Yes, but how do I fix it?
bro,ben awhile since i had that alarm on my volvo, think it was a combination of holding function button then pressing aux button, something like that. EASIEST fix just go to D.E.I website and check out user manual. However the BIGGEST problem with the Viper line is ANY of the 2-way remotes almost monthly the batteries should be replaced. GOOD LUCK
Thanks

Your alarm got put into valet mode some how
.It's easy to reverse out of it back to normal. First look for a small black push button under the dash somewhere. It's called a valet button. Here are the steps.
1. open door
2.turn key on then off
3.then within 10 seconds hit that valet button once(your alarm light should be off. Tell you arm it again. Then it will blink)
Hope this helps

1. Open a door. (The GREEN wire, H1/8, or the VIOLET, H1/6 must be connected.) 2. Insert the key. Turn the ignition to the ON position. The heavy gauge pink wire must be connected. Program switch corresponding to the number of the desired function step listed in the following table. Once you have selected the function step, press the switch once more and hold it. The LED will flash and the siren will chirp to confirm the selected functional step. Do not release the Program switch. Step Function 1 Auto Learn Standard Configuration* (default) The auto learn configuration will automatically setup the remotes button configuration. Note: Due to the Supercode protocol, you cannot change the configuration. 2 Delete remotes: This feature will erase all remotes from the memory of the security system. This is useful in cases when a customer's remote is lost or stolen. Note:: This will not reset the programmed features of the security system or reset the Virtual Tach setting. 3 Reset Features: This resets features all of the security system to the factory default settings. Note: This feature does not delete the remotes from the security system or reset the Virtual Tach setting. 4 Virtual Tach Reset: Deletes all previously learned values for Virtual Tach, and on the next remote start sequence the unit will begin virtual tach initialization. Note: The "Zap" feature on the Bitwriter will not reset the Virtual tach setting. 4. Transmit. While holding the Valet/Program switch, press the lock button on the remote control. The unit will chirp to confirm that the code has been successfully pro grammed. It is not possible to teach a remote control but ton to the system more than once. 5. Release. Once the code is learned, the Valet/Program switch can be released.
