I had the same issue with the Kohler tap assembly. I ended up removing the leaking valve assembly from the sink and removed the tubing. I then took it over to Home Depot and borrowed a 2 foot pipe wrench and a 2 foot piece of steel tubing (both found in Plumbing). I had wrapped a few turns of masking tape around the threads of the valve assembly (to protect them), and tightened the pipe wrench jaws over it. I had taken a socket ratchet wrench that fit over the valve cartridge with me, and used the piece of pipe over the handle. With these two long handles, I was able to give them a sharp tug and the cartridge was freed (making a loud "snap" sound). (You can do this yourself or have someone help you.) This procedure has worked fine for me a couple of times now, and saves you the expense of buying the complete valve assembly, as the cartridge is a fraction of the price of a new valve assembly. Many thanks to Home Depot, even though they don't know they helped...

SOURCE: Kohler shower facuet pressure balancing problem?

ever since the pressure balancing regulations came out for shower valves, they have went from simple to very complicated devices. sounds as if some foreign material caused the valve to stop working. that valve is quit difficult to reassemble correctly because there is only one way it works and can be assemmbled many ways that do not work concerning alignment of the ports. if you dissassemble it and check that all the moving parts are functioning in the balancing cartridge you can then look closely at the alignment of the ports on the cartridge that the handle is connected to. understanding how the port align as the handle is turned should assist you in assembling it correctly......hope this helps.

SOURCE: How do I get the cartridge out of Kohler kitchen faucet Coralais

You have to remove the "large" nut but you need to find a way to hold the faucet. Also, you will see a retaining washer that fits on the inside of that "large" nut. If you loosen this it will release some of the tention on it and hopefull make it easier to remove. Also, try using some lime remover on the unit will might alow the retaining nut to loosen. Good luck and if you can't get it off, contact Kohler, they have an 800 number and they can give you the info you will need depending on your model.

SOURCE: No hot water pressure on kohler bath / shower faucet

Try draining the system and apply air pressure (min 30psi) to each faucet. Open other hot water faucets to allow pressure to vent. Next try draining and cleaning the hot water tank.

Dripping bath faucet circa 1985. Can't ID model but appears to have 2 screws holding front of casting to main body for disassembly . Faceplate is square in shape and black in color HELP!

  • 1 Close the hot and cold water valves in the cabinet beneath the sink to shut the water supply off to the bath faucet.
  • 2 Remove the bath faucet's handle to access the valve cartridge. The faucet handle is removed by first detaching the handle's insert cap using the tip of a screwdriver or utility knife to expose the handle screw. Remove the handle screw with a Phillips screwdriver, then pull the handle off the valve cartridge stem.
  • 3 Loosen and remove the cartridge valve nut with an adjustable wrench. Some faucet models retain the valve cartridge with a snap ring and are removed with snap ring pliers.
  • 4 Pull the old valve cartridge out of the bath faucet base, using pliers.
  • 5 Insert the new replacement valve cartridge into the faucet housing and replace the nut or snap ring removed in Step 3, using an adjustable wrench or snap ring pliers.
  • 6 Reinstall the faucet's handle onto the valve cartridge post, then secure the handle's screw, using a screwdriver.
  • 7 Replace the insert cap into the handle to cover the handle's screw hole.
  • 8 Turn on the hot and cold water valves beneath the sink to restore the water supply.

How do I open the body of K-10430 apart to replace the valve cartridge kit that's leaking

The handle has a allen set screw loosen that until the handle comes off then the bonnet nut will unscrew revealing the bonnet cap and washer the cartridge should be under that most kohler's require a special tool to remove cartridge(turn water to faucet off prior to working on faucet, also note how everything is removed it needs to be replaced in same order especially the cartridge, also you should use plumbers grease to coat all seal when replacing everything).

My Kohler Fairfax faucet pressure /flow has dropped (cold)

Verify the cold water outlet has equal pressure as the hot side outlet at the wall. Check the inlet screen on the cold side water line where it attatches to cold water pipe. The screen could be plugged. Then check the cold side hose for any restrictions. Also check if there is a screen on the outlet side of the cold water hose and see if it is plugged. Otherwise the faucet valve is mis-aligned and will need to be rotated and re-tightened to align the valve to the center so both sides have equal water flow.
