Try this: 1. Close all programs and restart computer. 2. Launch iTunes. 3. Make sure iPod is on. 4. Plug iPod into USB port on computer and iPod unit. 5. Wait for iTunes to recognize iPod (sometimes takes 45 sec).

dear may be your data cable is faulty or damage if your usb port is working to other usb device like pen drive or printer if not may be (ich usb bus) driver not working properly you should be reinstall chipset driver from (PC) mother board driver CD.
Connect the small end of the USB cable to a high-powered (2.0) USB port on your computer.
Connect the large end of the USB cable to your iPod's dock connector, which is located on the bottom of your iPod.

do you have itunes installed ? if not install itunes and if so try and see if it is recognized on another computer if it is seen by another computer try and uninstall the software on your system and update and reinstall it
Try put the cord in a diffrent port or slot besides the one you normally use. Some times they short out. Mines did. Or you could use someone else computer.
You can only sync one ipod with one computer so if you put music on it already it will only work with the original computer you synced it with. Same with ANY ipod.
Try connecting this ipod to rear USB port on your desktop computer and then try this out

Ok, there should be a cable with which you connect your iPod, iTunes should recognize it and you should be able to transfer music.
Otherwise try going My Computer, find your iPod folder , open it, open your desired folder and drag songs from the folder that your iTunes music is in into you iPod folder
