If you don't run the steamer after taking it out of the milk, the milk dries in the tube and clogs it up. For now, try taking a fine wire and poking in the hole. Then soak the steam tube in a glass of hot water to soften the blockage. Run the steam thru the tube until you get a good flow and then be sure to clean the steamer tube every time. I usually put a washcloth under the tube to catch the steam.

DISPENSING SPOUT ON ECM20 IS CLOGGED

It's probably clogged up with hard water deposits. Fill the water reservoir with plain white vinegar and put the espresso pot in place as usual, but do not load coffee! Run as usual for making espresso. You may have to run a couple of tanks, until the vinegar is pretty much colorless. Then run a couple of tanks of water to flush the vinegar. If your machine has a steam valve for frothing milk, put the steamer pot under it and open the valve as well. Over time, the steam valve can clog up with milk solids, called casein, which is actually a form of organic plastic.

Mr Coffee Pump Espresso machine not working. Lights alternately flash between coffee and steam icons, machine makes noise, but coffee does not brew, water does not flow, steam does not come out.

The espresso portion may be clogged with hard water deposits, and the steamer tube with casein. Run a tank of plain white vinegar a couple of times then run a couple of tanks of plain water to flush the vinegar, Open the steam valve while the espresso portion is running and set the steamer pot under the steamer. Don't be surprised if a long white tube of hard white material slides out of the steamer valve. That's the casein, actually a form of organic plastic.

The milk steamer is not frothing. I have tried cleaning and descaling

If it does not produce steam when you switch to steam mode and wait for it to heat up, the steam thermostat needs to be replaced.

How strong should the output for the cappucino/ latte steamer? Mine just sort of dribbles the steamed milk. Thanks

When steaming the milk/cream make sure to hold the rubber nozzle to the very bottom of the cup and also make sure you are leaving enough water to produce the steam after brewing a cup of espresso. Also you'll want to check the breather tube that sticks up from the nozzle and make sure it is free of buildup. When the steamer is operating correctly it should produce a loud growling sound.

Steamer

Hi,

Take off the edge on the steam pipe, clean it and mount it again.

Steam frother

1. Pour in vinegar instead of water. 2. Bring vinegar to a boil but do not run it through the machine. 3. Turn off machine for the machine for an hour. 4. Remove sheath from the steamer. 5. Place tip of steamer into large mug of cold water. 6. Turn espresso machine on and allow vinegar to run through steamer.
Optional: Before starting the process, unbend a paperclip or metal hook (for hanging holiday ornaments) and use it to clear the steamer orifice.
It may take the vinegar a little while to dissolve and loosen the blockage. If the process does not work the first time time, try again later and allow the warm vinegar to sit in the machine longer.

No steam!

Ran into the same problem on mine just after using the steam, so it definetely wasn't clogged... hope this helps.

Just try running the expresso maker through a full cycle and then try the steam again. Not sure if the machine air locked or something, but the expresso cycle appeared to get the water flowing again and then it had no trouble producing steam.

Hope it works.

Briel espresso machine

Try opening the frothing valve by turning the dial and force water through it instead of steam by pressing the middle, coffee button. You may be experiencing vapor lock. Once the water comes through the steamer valve, turn the steamer knob off and release the coffee button. Then try the steamer button with the steamer dial open. This may do the trick.
